Fresh off their impressive win in Milwaukee, the Guins travel to Chicago to play the UIC Flames Thursday at 8 p.m.
YSU beat UIC 71-50 on January 7 at Beeghly.
Pomeroy gives YSU at 63% chance of victory, projecting a 68-64 YSU win.
Sagarin's ratings would make YSU a 3 point favorite.
Will do my best to keep this topic from getting lost in the avalanche (justifiable) of football signing threads. ;D
As we stated last night, two big road games where YSU will be favored.
UIC is 6-4 at home this year, the four losses by 8 points or less.

Indy, this will be a VERY difficult game. UIC is very athletic and, as you mentioned, has been tough at home.

Indy
Will be watching on the internet.
Hopefully they play as well as they did Tuesday night.
Coach Slocum surely was a happy, happy Coach, and
we were equally happy for him and the team.
A win is possible and probable. We'll be watching.

I'll be watching as well. These games are huge we need to keep us in the hunt.....

UIC has played very solid their last couple outings, just has not resulted in wins. They got some nice talent on their team, no denying that.
-
From the Horizon League press release for today
a YSU squad that is 8-0 on the year when winning the battle of the boards.

Our success will depend, as usual, on our ability to hit the three point shots and to stay out of foul trouble. We had little trouble getting good looks against UIC in Youngstown. Won't be that easy this time around. But play with the same intensity that we showed in Milwaukee and we will be just fine.

Go Penguins. You CAN do this.

anyone else having trouble getting the video feed?

anyone else having trouble getting the video feed?
from looking at the UIC board the answer is Yes

IT IS OKAY NOW, IF YOU CAN STAND THE AUDIO.
HALF TIME

Big trouble now 12-2 run by UIC.

I dont like to speak negative of 20 year athletes but a certain reserve is on the wrong court. We would be better off with him standing in the corners on the offensive sets. Unfortunately its even worse on the defensive end. Most belong at Grove City. Who recruited these players? I think the real problem with the staff is that the assistant coaches have no credibility or recruiting connections..
-
How can we be this bad? It is certainly not UIC. We have been able to drive inside at will, but we throw-up a bunch of long distance crap! Nice job wWard. ...let him dribble down to only 1-second lefton the possesion THEN you foul him????????
-
Turned if off...with like 3mins to play ...totally disappointed!

That game was lost when Slocum sent three bench players onto the court following the 8 minute media timeout when we were down by only 4 points. >:( Explain to me why healthy, 18-22 year old athletes can not play 8 more minutes of basketball after a timeout. Naturally, UIC extended the margin to 9 before the starters could be reinserted and the game was over. It is one thing to insert our miserable bench players into a game in the first half; it is quite another to actually play them in crunch time. Terrible loss. Disgusting coaching. :-[

I understand chemistry on a team and that the JUCO way is hit and miss but the staff is going a long way from Ytown to fill the 6-12 roster spots with players that can't help the team. Having grown up in Central PA I can tell you that there are pockets of good basketball throughout the state that should be recruited. Harrisburg, York, Reading, Allentown to name a few. If there are 250 legitimate Division I schools in basketball that is a total of 3,000 players with 750 new players per class..... How can we not recruit 8 players deep. It makes no sense and baffles me beyond belief.... They better dump a couple people on scholarships and get a couple JUCO's otherwise it will be wasted talent just like when Q was there...........
