Youngstown State University junior Darius Quisenberry is leaving the men’s basketball program and will enter the NCAA transfer portal.
The Penguins point guard made the announcement Thursday on social media:
Quisenberry was the first player in school history to earn all-league honors in his first two seasons. He started 78 games for the Penguins and averaged over 15 points per contest during his first three seasons at YSU.
Quisenberry said in the post, “With me graduating in 3 years, this is a great opportunity for me to expand my horizon and put my name in the transfer portal as a grad transfer.”
Last April, Quisenberry declared for the 2020 NBA Draft but withdrew his name before the deadline returning to YSU for his junior season.

I felt this would happen. Dissappointed that we could not keep our best player. It will be interesting where he ends up and how well he transitions above a mid-major if that where he goes.
Coach needs to go out and find a scoring guard.

He probably thinks that he will get an offer from the Big Ten. My prediction is that he ends up at Wright State, a short distance from his home in Springfield. That is the kind of thing that happens when you basically eliminate the transfer rules.

Wick,I'm just speculating that it might be Dayton,Cincy,or Xavier. If he did go to Wright State or any Horizon team he would be disrespecting YSU.

My fear was if he didn't end up at some bigger school, he'd go to Wright State. That would be a tough pill to swallow. You'd hope he'd respect YSU more than that. I'm just not sure where his landing place is. His stock fell so much this past year. Obviously the injury had an effect, but there was just an odd dynamic with him all year. Just didn't seem like he was engaged as much as the first two years.
Along with DQ & Kenny Ganley, I see Geoff Hamperian is also in the transfer portal. That one honestly is surprising. Does he just not to want to finish his career with a new batch of players if Naz, Covington, and Akuchie don't return?

I was just on the YSU basketball website. Those 3 names are already gone from the roster.
I don’t want to read too much into this. Covington, Naz and Akuchie are still listed on the roster.

Interesting. Also noticed Christian Bentley is gone, he was a senior, but Greyson Kelley & Jamir Thomas are also still listed
