One of the nastiest breaks and dislocations from what I heard. Tough way for his career to end.

I watched the coach's after game press conference. Bo stated that May's bones were broken above the ankle and that was a very serious injury. He also said that the injury has ended his playing career at YSU

Dislocated knee and a broken ankle. Leg was turned the opposite way. Very nasty.

I agree. He played a lot better than I expected and no one on this board can question that kids heart and toughness. I have nothing but respect for that young man. Terrible to see his career end that way.

Stinks that his senior season had to end that way.  Hope he recovers fine, and can move on to the next stage of his life.  Good hard-nosed player.

That was fantastic to see Mays being helped onto the field so he could take the last snap of the season. Very very cool, congrats to whomever thought of doing that!

The article on sports illustrated:

Youngstown State Players Help Injured QB Nathan Mays Onto Field for Final Snap
JENNA WEST22 HOURS AGO
Injured Youngstown State quarterback Nathan Mays could not play in the final game of the season, but his teammates made sure he could still take the field one last time.

With 10 seconds left on the clock against Illinois State, the Penguins took a timeout so Mays could take the final snap of the game. Seniors Myles Douglas and Matt Jones helped support Mays, who was wearing a brace on his left ankle, as he made his way onto the field. After Jones snapped the ball, two other teammates helped Mays take a knee to end the game.

On Nov. 2, Mays suffered a season-ending ankle injury against North Dakota State when he was hit in the backfield. The senior told reporters he dislocated and broke his ankle and his career was over.

After Youngstown State's 21–3 win over the Redbirds on Saturday, Mays said he planned to come onto the field if they had "multiple scores by halftime" and coach Bo Pelini was supportive when he asked for permission on the sideline.

"It was pretty crazy. It didn't hit me until I actually did it and then I saw my dad in tears. It was pretty special," Mays said.

The TV guys said that while Mays won't be among the statical leaders at YSU, he had great heart.
Couldn’t agree more.  The event on Saturday was an incredible complement to Nathan Mays, the man.
We have seen a couple players come through YSU that went on to play at the next level, but the real legacy of the program is the men who went on to be great members of society.  Nate will certainly be among them!  Thanks for your efforts Mr. Mays!
