There are a bunch of reports of YSU football offers out there.
I wanted to start a thread to post some of the links we might find.
I found this one interesting - Naples (FL) Daily News Most Outstanding Player Manny Morgan, a RB who rushed for over 2,000 yards, will visit YSU this month
http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2012/dec/25/2012-ndn-broxson-award-winner-manny-morgan-high/ (http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2012/dec/25/2012-ndn-broxson-award-winner-manny-morgan-high/)
When Manny Morgan sets his mind to something, he gets it done.
After leading the area in rushing two straight years, the Naples High back had bigger visions for his senior season. Morgan wanted to make sure he was remembered as one of the best running backs in Golden Eagles history.
With the second-most rushing yards in a single season, which put him second on Naples' all-time list, Morgan achieved his goal. By running for 2,069 yards for the regional champion Eagles, Morgan also earned the Daily News Broxson Award as the area's most outstanding football player.
"I was hoping to break 2,000 yards," the senior said. "I set that as my goal before the year. It took a lot of hard work."
Morgan's assault on the Naples record book began shortly after his junior year. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound back knew if he wasn't going to be big, he would have to be fast.
He ran track as a junior, focusing on the sprints and the jumps. Morgan also put in extra work over the summer. In addition to lifting weights with his team, Morgan would get up early and run on the beach — against the wind — to improve his leg strength and quickness.
The results were visible right away. Morgan jump-started his senior season with 351 total yards and four touchdowns in Week 1 against North Miami. It was one of three 200-yard rushing games for him. Morgan ran for more than 100 yards in 10 of his 13 games, and the other three he had at least 91 yards.
"The biggest difference was his speed," Naples coach Bill Kramer said. "He worked really, really hard. He was diligent in the offseason about improving his speed. He was very technical about it. That's the difference between rushing for 1,300 yards (as a junior) and going over 2,000."
Following three straight 1,000-yard seasons and 4,546 career rushing yards, Morgan is rivaled only by Duane Coleman in his production at Naples High School. Morgan's senior year ranks behind Coleman's 2,814 yards in 2001 as the second-best single season. Coleman, also a three-time 1,000-yard rusher, is the only back with more career yards than Morgan.
Morgan still is waiting to pick a college program. He hasn't gotten any Division I offers, Kramer said, largely because teams have just seen highlights from Morgan's junior year when he was a step slower.
Youngstown State has shown interest, and Morgan has an official visit planned for the Football Championship Subdivision school in January.
Morgan has been obsessed with improvement since he started the sport. As a youth football player, he would go over technique and details with his father, Tyrone, a 1995 Lely graduate and former Trojans running back.
"He gives me advice," Morgan said of his father. "He's worked with me since I was young. He would record my Pop Warner games and we'd watch film on Sunday mornings. Ever since then I've been a workhorse."

Fenwick senior QB Ricky Davis committed to Youngstown State on Dec. 21, according to Fenwick coach Fred Cranford.
Davis, a first-team all-GCL North selection this past season, had 1,213 passing yards on 69 passing attempts and 16 touchdowns in the regular season. Davis, who is 6 feet 2 and and 195 pounds, also had 412 rushing yards on 87 carries and five rushing touchdowns. He also had a preferred walk-on offer from Illinois.

Poland senior kicker Connor McFadden verbally commits to Youngstown State. McFadden, who verbally committed to Youngstown State this week, will follow not just in the footsteps of his father (who kicked for the Penguins from 1980-83 before spending six barefooted seasons in the NFL with the Eagles, Giants and Falcons) but also his mother, Dianne Rappach, who played for YSU’s women’s basketball team from 1988-92. Both are in YSU’s athletic hall of fame.
“Yeah, that factored in [the decision] a little bit,” said Connor, whose high school coach, Mark Brungard, was a standout quarterback for the Penguins. “They’ve always told me it’s up to me, though. But at this point, YSU probably has the best facilities around here, so I figured it’s the best decision I could make.”
Over his three-year career, McFadden set Poland records for field goals (19) and PATs (108). He made 19 of 31 field goals in his career and had touchbacks on more than 50 percent of his kickoffs.

I saw this kid play on tv. He is very athletic. Too small for QB but can definitely be a RB. Tore his ACL last year and looked like he never lost a step ths year

1. If he wants to stay closer to home YSU.
2. If he thinks he's NFL material EIU.
3. If he wants to continue to play his style of football GSU.

Point taken - but actually EIU is 40 miles closer to Cincy than YSU.

LOL. If I didn't live in between Cincy and Charleston IL, I would have never guessed. I wasn't sure so had to go to Mapquest to check it out. :)
In state tuition might matter if he is in line for a partial scholly everywhere.

EIU is a good program, but he will get a bit more NFL visibility here. EIU has lived off of Romo for too long now.

LA Ramsby is going to GSU.

Jacob Wood, a 6-5 TE from Tallmadge has committed to YSU

Not to sound negative already on Thompson ...but he would be better served to bulk up a bit and try safety ...or bulk up a little more and try LB. All his premier video is run stopping. He has some speed, so he keeps up with the guys on the outside, but he has nothing in his video to show me he has ball awareness. We already have a few of these now. At 185, he is not going to stop the likes of Zenner, Bell, Crockett, or Watson ...all of which return.

LB Jordan Guest of Miami Columbus High School has visited YSU and will visit Illinois State and Florida International. Had been a FIU commit, but the coaching change at FIU has opened him back up.

Not necessarily. Have you seen Seattle's DB's??? Tall and big. Thats the new thing. More and more corners are 6-0 and over... I think he stays at Corner but we will see

Jake McVay from Aurora has committed to YSU and will play Free Safety. Listed at 6-1, 190

I saw Aurora play twice on tv this fall. I was really impressed with their skilled athletes, presumably McVay was one of them.

YSU has offerred Tampa Robinson RB Martin Ruiz. Ruiz had an "excellent" visit this past week per his coach (via Twitter).
A couple of stories
http://www.tampabay.com/hometeam/blog/state-football-knights-rb-ruiz-leaves-impression-godby-coach/15971/ (http://www.tampabay.com/hometeam/blog/state-football-knights-rb-ruiz-leaves-impression-godby-coach/15971/)
TAMPA — Ronnie Cottrell freed himself from a pair of beaming parents, eluded reporters holding microphones and cut a beeline toward one of the forlorn Robinson Knights standing near the end zone Friday.
The Tallahassee Godby head coach swiftly sidled up to the player he was looking for, running back Martin Ruiz.
“Keep your head up,” Cottrell told Ruiz. “You’re going to college to play.”
Cottrell, referred to in some circles as the “architect of the Florida State dynasty,” knows a college football recruit when he sees one.
In the 1990s, Cottrell brought some of the nation’s most talented players to Tallahassee: Derrick Brooks, Marvin Jones and William Floyd. Today, Cottrell is coaching at least a half-dozen college prospects, including senior running back and Kentucky commit Khalid Davis.
But Cottrell said he saw something special in Ruiz, who rushed for 56 yards and caught a pass for 20 more.
“He’s just a tremendous player,” Cottrell said. “He’s one of the best RBs I’ve ever seen at this level.
“He makes yards when there’s no yards. He was the difference in the first half.”
Ruiz, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior who finished the season with nearly 1,600 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns, received his first college offer this week, to Youngstown (Ohio) State.
Robinson coach Mike DePue said he expects more offers in the following weeks.
“That’s my job now,” said DePue, who coached his final game Friday.
From earlier in the season:
http://bigcountypreps.com/181/robinsons-martin-ruiz-best-kept-secret/ (http://bigcountypreps.com/181/robinsons-martin-ruiz-best-kept-secret/)
73 yards per game – Doesn’t make you jump out your seat
12 carries per game – Doesn’t sound look like the workhorse
4 rushing TD – Seen better
BUT…add the above, to the following
6.3 yards per rush – That’s a first down every other carry
118 receiving yards and 3 receiving TDs – Shows he can be a threat as a receiver
12 solo tackles – versatile enough to be impact on both sides of the ball
1 INT, 1 CF and 1 FR – Is often around the football
24.4 yards per KOR – Good chance the offense will have good field position
8 total TDs – Has a nose for the goal line
Martin Ruiz, Robinson 2013 ATH is not the star studded RB. He does not draw lots of attention from the opposing teams or college coaches. He is one of those guys who has really good skills, team oriented and just does what ever needs to get done for his team to win.
The 5-11/190lbs senior does not have a scholarship offer yet, but is hopeful some university will come calling for his talent. His numbers this season are solid. It doesn’t help that his time on the field is limited to the success of his team. The Robinson Knights are 5-0 and have often had such a big spread on their opponent that Ruiz is replaced at some point in the game. The defense and special teams have scored so much, that his time on offense is reduced and his stats on offense, have not been eye popping.
Currently, Ruiz feels that South Florida is showing him the most recruiting attention. He is also getting looks from Florida International, Western Kentucky and Purdue. “I’ll go play ball anywhere”, says Ruiz. “I think I’m an aggressive runner and just want a chance”.

Seems like Wolf and the staff are trying really hard to get a couple RBs in here. Don't blame, after Bellamy and Pace leave, it's just Hymes back there

Linebacker Bryant "B.J." Welch from Orangewood Christian (Orlando, FL area) has committed to YSU
Had offers from Elon, Illinois State, Marshall and Central Florida.
If you google his name and Orangewood Christian and his name and Apopka you will get lots of video.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/recruiting/os-orangewood-christian-bryant-bj-welch-chooses-youngstown-state-20130129,0,912611.post (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/recruiting/os-orangewood-christian-bryant-bj-welch-chooses-youngstown-state-20130129,0,912611.post)
Bryant “B.J.” Welch was pretty pumped up last week when he officially committed to Youngstown State University in Ohio. It meant he was officially going to be the first person in the Welch family to go to college.
“I’m very proud and everybody in my family is proud of me and happy,”said the Maitland Orangewood Christian linebacker, who had a tremendous season after transferring over from Apopka.
Things were looking kind of bleak last spring for Welch, who ended up having to leave Apopka High, but with a suggestion from Apopka coach Rick Darlington, he found a place at Orangewood with former Edgewater head coach Bill Gierke.
“Yeah things weren’t going well with me and the coach and stuff at Apopka,” Welch said. “Actually coach Darlington told me about Orangewood and I was looking at Evans before I finally ended up at Orangewood.”
He had to watch this past season as his former teammates made their run all the way to the Class 8A state championship.
“It was difficult [to watch] but I’m happy for my brothers over there,” Welch said. “I was really happy for them. I watched the state game and I watched the DP game and every playoff game.
“But I felt like I had an awesome year. Everything worked out good and I have Coach Gierke to thank for that.”
Welch averaged about 10 tackles per game for Orangewood this past season and he’ll play the Will outside linebacker spot at Youngstown.
“I went on the visit and it was very family-oriented and the whole situation felt good … the coaching staff, the facilities, everything, and I felt it was the right thing to do. I felt at home,” he said. “I committed while I was there.”
Welch, 5-foot-10, 183 pounds, also had a few other schools expressing interest.
“I had offers from Youngstown, Elon, Illinois State, Marshall and UCF,” he said. “I went to Elon and also had an unofficial to UCF and I was going to visit Illinois State, but I’m not going.
“I feel great … all the stress is off me now. My mom is happy, the family is happy, so I’m happy.”
There is one other Welch out there looking for a possible college football future. Linebacker James Welch at Orlando Evans is B.J.'s cousin and he has a few options to check out.
"Yeah, he's still looking, so hopefully he'll find something too," B.J. said.
