Well?

Lot's critiquing to come, but for now WooWooWoo!!!
-
HUGE HUGE HUGE Win
-
Congrats to everyone involved with the program. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Lots of good happened in that game.
-
Congrads to the team and coaches! They overcame a rough week of doubters and a rough first half!!!
-

Any win on the road is good. Very happy that we were able to overcome that constant field position disadvantage caused by very poor kick coverage. Defense had its usual lapses but definitely showed signs of improvement, yielding only six points in the second half. NDSU could not do a thing against the SIU defense, so our second half offensive performance was very impressive.

Wolf has the monkey off his back. Go YSU!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I thought that that 3rd and long by SIU near the end of the game was a fumble.
-
Do we or not have the worst ref's in football?
-
If their not they are making a great case.
-
not so sure how good SIU really is but our D looked better today. Special teams need to improve,
-
If YSU played every game like this one we'd be 5-1 right now. This was the effort I saw against MSU game 1. The "D" was really good. The "O" was good and the special teams/kick off coverage sucked big azz! Over all I'm very pleased and have to give kudos to the coaching staff for making adjustments and letting these kids play loose. The Jack Rabbits are giving UNI all they want right now ;D
Oh forgot to mention the MVC Refs: There was obvious holding and block in the backs every return SIU had. Funny, since YSU's been in the conference we seem to get hommered at home and on the road with these clowns. I guess that's OK it give the rest of the legue a chance ;)

They looked for every reason in the world to deny that fumble TD didn't they. They actually waited and talked it over to see if they could find a way. It was kind of funny, because I said to myself "just watch this happen" ...and it almost did. The only thing that I can thing of is that they thought we batted the ball back into the end-zone?
-
IAA Fan,
You are correct. The officials were discussing who batted the ball into the end zone. Had we done it, it would indeed have been a touchback. The tv replay clearly showed that an SIU player batted the ball, so the officials got it right. Actually, except for those two strange penalties against our kickoff team, I thought that the officials were ok (by MFVC standards.) At least we did not endure about six holding penalties.

Wasn't pretty but I'll take it.
We certainly improved defensivly. Not sure if it was scheme or play or both. I just don't get the same perspective whn I am not watching live play.
Special teams could have caused us bigger headaches with the field position we were giving up all day. The Defense played better and I like the blitzing.
The offense really didn't have too many sustained drives. 2 of the scores were like 1:30 3-play drives

Congrats on the Win! 8)
Contrary to popular belief I have been very happy with the half-time adjustments made by our defense (both staff and players).
team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th total
YSU 63 76 48 28 215
OPP 48 99 20 38 205

Good point PenZ. We actually backed off the blitz in the second half. I like to see more power on both sides of the ball ...(ie: sustained drives and blitzing). However, in the second quarter, their QB burned us on those blitzes (slant pattern of course), so we backed off.
A integral part of blitzing is having faith in your secondary. In this case, the SIU QB "couldn't hit the broad side of a barn". He had many, many wide opened receivers. He had only started 1-game prior to Saturday. This luxury will not happen against MSU, WIU, NDSU and UNI. I am still concerned, but I asked for noticeable change, and I got it. Thanks Wolf!! Congrats on the win guys!
