Practice is 8 days away and First game is August 24th.

Insufficient data right now to make a sensible guess. Chief, any scoop on the recovery from injury (or lack thereof) by Justus Reed and Kyle Hegedus? And can the new offensive line coach create an effective unit? Having the services of the center from a prolific big time offense, even if for only one year, should be a sound foundation.
-
Justus should be a full go, not sure about Kyle. I would assume they'll be extra cautious with him coming off his 2nd ACL tear.
-
I know it’s early. Let’s have fun with this thread. You can change it up till before week one!

OK, Go. Since you insist. Here are my preliminary impressions, subject to change at the end of fall practice.
Everything is based upon improved quarterback play, the result of internal competition. And upon a restored defense.
4-0 OOC
Remember that Samford quarterback who threw on nearly every down in the 2016 playoff game. Last season as a senior, he won the Walter Payton award and set the all-time FCS passing records. Yet with that weapon, Samford finished only 6-5 in a weak conference.
Duquesne beat Towson from the CAA decisively in the playoffs last year, but then SDSU exterminated them in the next round.
3-1 in MVFC home games
SDSU lost their elite quarterback. NDSU lost their elite quarterback, lots of other seniors, and their coach.
We should win one of those games
If the defense is restored, we should beat Western Illinois and Illinois State.
2-2 best case; 1-3 worse case in MVFC road games
We can't beat UNI in that stupid gym.
We should lose no more than one to the combination of Southern Illinois, South Dakota, and Indiana State.
Dropping a third road game will cost us a spot in the playoffs
So I am going with 9-3. We will probably get one inexplicable loss and finish 8-4.

Wish you were wrong about that bandbox at UNI. We have had some damn good teams go in their and gotten our butts kicked! And this team may be pretty good, but has a TON of questions. The biggest being QB. Somebody better really stick his head up during camp. Right now, I hear various people touting at least 3 different names. NONE a proved 1AA player. But even with a QB that can play, he won't last long without an OL, and THAT is a huge question too. With Carl back and Reed back, the D should be OK, but special teams and O need huge improvement.

A lot of talented pieces on the roster but going to depend on how everything meshes together. Lots of transfers and new faces. But as stated above, all depends on QB play. Concerning going into camp.

Chief, can you provide information on the new transfers since completion of the spring ball (or those who have not been previously disclosed on this board)?

I think I've reported every transfer on here.
Zaire Jones- Safety from Vandy
Colten McFadden- Kicker from Kent
Matt Jones- Center from West Virginia
Myles Douglas- OG from Tennessee Tech
Jayden Patterson- DB from Western Kentucky
-
Zaire Jones- Safety from Vandy Suspended twice, once for assault on a police officer
Colten McFadden- Kicker from Kent coming "home" and a welcome addition
Matt Jones- Center from West Virginia Graduate transfer and a HUGE pick up with Vitus gone
Myles Douglas- OG from Tennessee Tech Backup at Tenn Tech, but any OL help welcome
Jayden Patterson- DB from Western Kentucky quite WK after spring ball. Note from WK paper:
WKU’s secondary is currently loaded with a mix of veterans and talented up-and-comers, many of whom figure to play significantly more than Patterson would have.
Maybe some help here. Joneses could be major addition as need is great and they can both play. Others seem disgruntled about lack of playing time, and probably won't get a whole lot more at YSU, but NOBODY has enough depth and certainly not our Quins.

Couple other notes:
Chris Julian, a LB who played at Howland is on the roster. Attended Fork Union last year. Had a couple D1 offers coming out of high school.
Jack Cappabianca from Western Reserve who walked on at Ohio State last year is on the roster here now.

Its clear YSU Football isnt dead yet. Pelini's first post practice interview has 4k views on youtube so interest is still there.

Just hope the head coach can maintain his composure.

Agreed. (wonder how many posted that comment throughout all the JT years? Yep, -0-)
