Title: In Memoriam
Post by: ItalianPenguin on July 14, 2011, 08:50:20 AM
If you are so inclined, please say a prayer today for the family of former Vindy YSU beat writer Pete Mollica, who passed away earlier this morning. I knew Pete well having travelled with him to several YSU athletic road events and I can tell you he cared deeply for YSU and, more importantly, was a good and decent family man. He was enjoying his retirement greatly, which makes this all the more sad. RIP.

So sad. Pete was a very good friend to this site as well. He wrote articles the first two years, probably back around 1990. Huge loss for everyone. What happened IP, the Vindy's on-line edition is down right now?

1AA--his cancer he had beaten a few years back came back with a vengeance. He went to the hospital about a month ago and died there today. It's a very sad day, indeed.

IP and the rest of the Penguin Nation, it should be noted that Pete Mollica was inducted into the Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame in the 2010 class.  Pete was a class act as they say and we are glad that he was more than able to receive that award.  Well deserved for all his years dedicated to sports in the valley.

Sad to hear, prayers to the family.

It blows my mind that we can put a man on the moon but we can't beat the big C.
