Title: MVFC will not get 4 teams into the playoffs
Post by: penguinpower on November 14, 2011, 03:39:52 PM
Mark my words.  The A-holes are getting ready to screw the league out of 4 teams.  We will only get 2 or 3 in the playoffs.  They are setting things up by not ranking us or Indiana State.

Lets not forget that Indiana State put a beat down on FBS WKU.

This is exacly what is happening.  I've seen this before.

And Patty is to inept, clueless, incompetent to make anything good happen for this conference.  Please go away.  We do not need your services becuase you don't do anything for your teams as it is.

You are also a stupid person to place a basketball branding on a football conference.  MFVC or MVC or MVFC?  WTF is is?  It should be the Gateway.  That is a way better name.  Way better recognition.

Someone need to make a website called:  www.firepattyviverito.com

you do know we already will get considered over SDSU because they will only have 4 max wins over D-1 schools right? kinda shows how little ranking matter

if your in the top 30-40 you will get serious consideration

Yes I know that 21.

How many times have we been left out with an 8-3 record?  Too many is the answer. 7 won't cut it for YSU. We have to win 9

Trust me.

The Gridiron Power Index should be out later today.  We should fare well there as we were 22 last week before our signature win.  We are actually 7th in the Sagarins.

The MVFC will get four bids.  Here is how they will be distributed, unless weird things happen on Saturday.

4 CAA
4 MFVC
3 Southern
2 Big Sky
2 Southland
1 MEAC
1 Patriot
1 OVC
1 NEC
1 Big South

The years YSU was left out at 8-3 we only had 6 D1 wins.  1st rule of getting in the playoffs is 7 D1 wins. Sickens me to think we wasted two games this year against competition just a little bit better than a Mooney HS team but we achieved the D1 win status.

6 out of 32 Teams made the playoffs last year with 7 wins

7 wins, with wins over 2 top 15 ranked chance gives us a GREAT shot going by you know, actual facts, not the BS your attempting to spew out

The big Sky is always the key. It used to be the SoCon in years past. The CAA is not having a big year, but they will still see 4 ...it's just the love fest.

20 teams now ...not 16. You are right though ...we have not been there in a while, so we have to be clearly "better".

If we win Saturday, I see this happening when YSU is brought up in to the selection committee:

For: "They have two quality wins, and two close losses on the road to quality competition, and a good showing versus Michigan State. "

Against: "However they did lose to SDSU".

For: "Okay well name your pick above them?"

Against: "Well, err...let's just put them in or move on".

I don;t see any extended conversation beyond that.  Hence I agree that me must work to put up as many points as possibly this week, even if we have to give up a few extra.  IMO as we sit today before the last week of the season is played, we are still underdogs and have a less than 10% shot of getting in.

Good comment PenZ, but I was thinking that we would need to tighten up on D as well. We gave up points to teams we should not have:

We gave up 23 to SFU, so we need to beat this.
Also,
38-13 ILS over SMS
43-36 SDSU over SMS
Northern Iowa over SMS 42-7
NDSU over SMS 51-21

SMS is improving every week, let just win the game and let the chips fall. However, Let's hope for margins better than NDSU and UNI.

We are all wasting our breath and typing fingers if UNI loses!

In that scenario Ind St. goes via the win over us.  Nobody is gonna care we beat NDSU on the road.

Shakir Bell and Indiana St will be the pick.

I agree with Pen Power, we will get screwed over.  And I'm certainly not even counting on getting 4 in from the league.

We've been down this road before.

Yes we did, but we lost out to another 7 win team with an all D1 schedule.  #4 in the NCAA 1FCS hand book.  That's why this year our 7 win's "IF" we win Saturday will be a very strong case for the playoff's period.  YSU has meet every requirement in the hand book to a tee.  The only weak spot is SOS.  Alpo and St. Francis count for D1 win's but the SOS YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!
