Transfer portal adds so far...
Latrell Fordham, a 6-4 WR from Eastern Michigan
Jaelen Crider, a 6-2, 305 DT from Toledo
-
Chief, well no responses so far. But some of us really appreciate the information that you provide about the football program. Thanks and keep the info coming.
-
Coach did say he wanted another WR for Christmas! And two more offensive linemen!
-
Chief, I echo wick’s appreciation for providing us with the information to all of us outside the football program.
Do you know the class rank of these two players?

Not sure what you mean..
-
I think Chief he meant how much eligibility do the transfers have.
-
They each have 4 years left.
-
Joe Groeber - OL - 6'3 330lbs from University of Cincinnati. I believe he has 1 year left of eligibility.
Hopefully we see some more pipeline from UC to YSU in the future!

Thanks, that was what I meant to ask. I was hoping that they are not the graduate transfer with only one year eligibility left.

According to a friend who is a big UC fan, Groeber has the weight room squat record at UC. He’s an excellent pickup for the guins
-
What is your definition of excellent? He may hold a squat record but he's NEVER played a D1 snap in his life. More like smoke n mirrors to me. Read his UC Bio and your enthusiasm will quickly diminish. I'd say the coaching staff is reaching for straws but what choice do they have?

I don't see much hear to get excited about:(. Nothing here compares to the size and pedigree that NDSU is getting once again. An improved W-L record next season can help but, it is a tough cycle to break. "You gotta win games to get better players. To win games, you gotta get better players."
-
DL and OL recruiting has struggled since Wolf left. Until its fixed we are likely a .500 club. The recruiting is atrocious especially on the OL. I would go as far to say non-existent. I don't see anyone on the current staff fixing it either.
-
Gillison the TE from MSU has a nice resume. Throwing out for some positivity.

Geez people, give these kids a chance! North Dakota State is in a different universe then we are right now! Don't compare our recruiting classes to them right now! Let them grow and see what we have! Be thankful we still have a football team the way the crowds and population have dwindled! With that said I don't like losing to the Indiana States, Western Illinois and South and North Dakota's of the world! If we would have won those games, the conversation would be a whole lot different as we would have 5-5 or 6-4 record! Like indicated above, we have to win to get better players, but don't judge these kids on previous results! It is not fair to them!
-
Some are reacting like this list is comprehensive. It only includes those who were able to enroll at YSU this spring. The entire recruiting class contains some players with good credentials.
Keep in mind that there is one additional recruiting season. After spring practice, players who feel trapped behind young talent on a depth chart often search for new homes. We would hope that our coaches have set aside a few scholarships for these guys.
-
Absolutely! if not, they will search for greener pasters and more playing time!

You can thank Pelini for the bad recruiting years. Phillips has a very nice class this year. These are additions to the main class. We will be a step change better next year.

Also you need years stacked on years to be competitive. Phillips is doing this.

Saw a post of DP showing up at Kent Roosevelt BBall game to see Desmeal Leigh - 6' 7" Defensive End committed to YSU in the fall. That is the stuff that opens up the doors. DP is doing it right. We are not at the NDSU level - yet but I only see this going in the right direction.
