What’s really sad about the secondary is that they are experienced??!!  I could see if it was a young secondary but this is a travesty. I too also blame the lack of pass rush by the front 7 on this debacle. Can’t give quality QBs the amount of time to go through that many progressions. 6th year Nick Baker comes to town and this will not be pretty.  Has already thrown for 1100 yards. We are in for a long game unless this defense figures out how to get some stops, not jump off sides, and get some pressure on him!

Blew this game. Kick the field goal. Unreal.
We have a long way to go. That’s terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Play calling. f***

Defensively we keep doing what we do against the run. Force Day to go to the air. I am hoping the reason we have not been getting good pass rush is the fact that we have not needed nor shown blitz packages and coverages. We need to harass Day all day.No pun intended. I know we have not put together solid a 4 quarters of football and this needs to happen this week. Keep the gas on the entire game and don’t let them think they have a chance. Agree with the run on offense. Make them stop it. I too am weary of the barn and the fact we have not won there since the 20th century but I think the hex ends on Oct. 30. Get some turnovers and we win this game.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Bobby Mo week

Say all you want about OSU game, we need those games to survive financially. Plain and simple. Onto Bob Mo. need to put together a solid 3 quarters and blow them out and get reps for backups. Get King involved in the O and play action!  Secondary needs to clean some things up but the front 7 are solid and held OSU to 133 yards. They relied on pass game to wear us down. Clean up the issues. Take the next week off to prepare for a road trip to the worst dome in the country!  Jimmy Buffett Day at the lot. Penguin Fins Up!

Guins looked good. PSU put up 63 on Delaware. We have a solid team with a solid foundation!  I look forward to this season!  One bad call on the 3rd and 1…should have run it twice. Other than that great performance.

My dream…Goliath the Philistine started to attack David. He slowly walked closer and closer toward David, but David ran out to meet Goliath. David took out a stone from his bag. He put it in his sling and swung the sling. The stone flew from the sling and hit Goliath right between the eyes. The stone sank deep into his head, and Goliath fell to the ground—face down. So David defeated the Philistine with only a sling and one stone! He hit the Philistine and killed him.

Reality 45-7 OSU..

PS…we can dream still right???

Keep it close in the 1st quarter. Don’t let the game get out of control early. Get a turnover. Don’t turn it over. No injuries. We might have a game.

Evaluation:
1.  Great tailgate
2.  Penalties were disappointing
3.  No pressure on QB - need to fix that!
4.  Need to improve run game especially this week  can’t be going three and out against Valpo let alone OSU. Will make for a long game for defense.
5.  Need to improve discipline!! Can’t have unsportsmanlike penalties!!
6.  Go to Columbus. Exit the busses. Keep the busses running. Play hard with no injuries. Get the check. Enter busses. Head home and get ready for Bobby amp and especially UNI.

Looks like we lost our WR coach to Northwestern. Aaron Binns gone. Going to need to do some quick hiring before spring ball for RB and now WR coach.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Coach Phillips

So you can't see Phillips being a position coach at Wisconsin but you can see him being a head coach here?
[/quote

Correct!  I think he can lead men and a program which he has proven as we have gone from 1-7, 3-7 to 7-4 from a program that Penislini left us nothing in recruits and with sanctions.  I don’t see him as tight ends coach at Wisconsin. But if that is your goal in life then fine. Go be an obscure coach in a struggling program or try to challenge yourself to bring a program back to prominence. Great leaders surround themselves with successful people. Tressel was a great leader of men and players and coaches who would run through a wall for him who went on to be successful coaches and men. Same at OSU. Some people have it. Some don’t. Heacock was a great position coach and defensive coordinator. His head coaching skills were deficient and his personality was his downfall. I think DP has a good demeanor as a head coach. Very personable.  I grade our head coaches by the play on the field by the players. They had heart this year. Never quit and bought into the program.  They could have easily quit on those three games that we rallied and won. We saw that way too much with Wolford and Penislini.  Very few are leaving in the portal which tells me they like the system and talking to a senior who just graduated- he loved him as a coach and mentor. Can’t ask for much more. Will it lead to us beating UNI and SDSU next year, I don’t know. But I like our prospects with him. He may need to look at play calling and how to handle the offense but I think we are in a good position right now for the amount of money we pay our assistants.
