With Calhoun gone maybe just the wooden bleachers are being replaced as WKBN reported. Its possible the money line is being pulled!!!!!!!

No money is being pulled. WKBN is the worst at reporting in the area.

The University better not be spending ANY $ on the renovations.  It had better be funded exclusively by outside donors.  Especially after what the administration just did to the Dana School of Music.
Every single donor has come from private donations. Calm down, Karen.

Although things have improved YSU is one of the all-time worst mens programs in D1 the last 30+ years.  The players the last two years came here for a pay day.  How sustainable is that moving forward?

That is the correct question and YSU and the 350 other D1 schools are dealing with the same problem but obviously an OSU has different issues than a low mid major like the Horizon league teams.

The sustainability factor is how much can you afford to pay.  Unless the NCAA has any power anymore then it's going to get ugly and shady and like mud said we'll be cheering for the shirt since the body in the shirt is going to be different every season.  Looks like the days of a Kendrick Perry or a Cameron Morse playing 4 years at YSU are history.
I think the coaches see it and are adjusting but not sure the fan bases are.  Some of the old time coaches like Nick Saban don't want to deal with the madness.  Then again old Nick Had no problem jumping several times to the highest bidder himself.
Not sure I can be mad when another team pulls a guy like DJ Burns who we ourselves pulled from a previous team.

Yes it's tough to get accustomed for fans, coaches, etc., but unfortunately I don't see anything changing because as you said the NCAA seems to have lost its power.

I just saw this interesting tweet that Scott Nagy from Wright St may be in line for the SIU job https://x.com/CbbCoachRumors/status/1773019237428117582?s=20

That would be... interesting. Why leave Wright State for SIU? Granted, I'm kind of saying the same about Calhoun. Why leave YSU for SIU? Both cases are strange to me.

From what I've heard, the team has decided to sit out any potential smaller postseason tournaments. The cost is too high to do so and most of the team is leaving the program because they're seniors. Had this team been younger, they would have taken the added cost to help grow the team. Being that this was an older team, wasn't worth the money to go play in a meaningless tournament.

Yes he does have issues to work out.  An NCAA basketball tournament berth and first round win would be more exposure for YSU than all 4 FCS titles combined. FCS is irrelevant to everyone but us fools that follow it for our schools.

Why basketball sucks.  First, the court dimensions and hoop height are very small for the sizes of the player today.  Many of these players don't even need to actually jump to get the ball in the hoop.  It's like watching young kids playing with an adjustable hoop and lowering it to play.  Something needs to be done about this in my opinion.  Secondly the f***ing horns are so annoying.  Third, the contact isn't like football and boxing, it's glorified soccer with a lot of acting (constantly ). Finally, of the game is close, which is what you want to see. The last 5 minutes, which lasts approximately 1 hours, is just painful to watch.  The end of the games are dragged out with fouling etc.  if it was a contact sport running into or hitting someone wouldn't be considered a foul.

It's a non-contact sport.

You're complaining.... about a horn? Good grief, we're reached a new level of stupid.

Basketball is a contact sport.  What do you mean contact?  Last time I seen a game they are physical and body each other.

It's not a contact sport. It's ghey. Football and Boxing are Men's sports.  Basketball is for the beta males.

You have some serious issues you need to work out.

33YO I'm not saying the athletic department doesn't benefit from scheduling Ohio State but what I'm saying is everyone complains when we miss the playoffs with 4 losses and are a bubble team. Well then stop scheduling guaranteed losses and schedule a cupcake game. If you recall that's what Tress did hence why we played Slippery Rock every year. Guess what though we made the playoffs every year and made an impact. Playing OSU then playing the gauntlet of this schedule equals no playoffs. You can disagree but it's the truth.  Hope the money is worth it.
Where do you expect this athletic department to get the $800,000 it received this year from Ohio State?

Do you know how quickly that is used up in just charter flights to other schools in the conference?

But that's the point. It's paying for expenses we wouldn't otherwise get.

AGAIN - scheduling a cupcake doesn't make a difference for us. The difference is winning the games IN CONFERENCE.

They need to stop scheduling teams like Ohio State.  Had they not scheduled that game they would be sitting with 3 losses heading into a winnable game and more than likely the playoffs. Your season shouldn't come down to having to beat the number 1 team in the country that hasn't lost since last September to Iowa and won the title last year. Consistently making the playoffs is good for recruiting not getting crushed by FBS schools but it's all about the money sadly, so hope that money was worth another year of no playoffs .  Also get out of this conference. Doesn't matter how good the conference is when you get your balls beat in year in and year out. Back in the Gateway we couldn't beat Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, and UNI. Now it's the Dakota schools.  Just over the same garbage year in and year out.

Sorry, but you're wrong on multiple fronts here. First, athletics benefits from scheduling games like Ohio State because of the big pay day. From an athletic department our size, we need pay days. Second, we're not making the playoffs because of our in conference record and lack of quality wins, not because we lost to Ohio State. That's just completely and utterly silly. You think suddenly if we took Ohio State off the schedule and won against a cupcake that we'd make the playoffs? Absolutely not. It comes down to winning the games you need to win, I.e. Northern Iowa and South Dakota. Period.
