YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: The up side

All the more reason that we should be playing these teams. Again, until I see another trophy, I want to play no one of any ability OOC (aside from our $$ game). Sorry Power, I know you are shaking your head in disappointment, as we all are, but UNI IS a play-off caliber team ...YSU is NOT.

You should also not disrespect RMU, they are working their way up to a full scholarship program and they should be a regular opponent. In a couple of years they are not going to be playing us without a return game & it is nice to have them close.

you dont win trophies with Shane Montgomery as the OC. Thats a fact, guy has never won anything in his coaching career, wont start now.

Non YSU Sports / Re: Kent Football
« on: September 13, 2015, 10:24:55 AM »
The liberals over at Kent want diversity on the football field now.  They have a female kicker and she kicked a point in a game.  Apparently this isn't the first female to kick in a college football game.

I am truly living in a world I don't understand.  What is the point of this?  I hope they continue to recruit more girls.

There are just some things that don't belong together and women in football playing with men doesn't belong.  Idiots and morons make these kinds of decisions

Funny thing is you think any of this is true. she's been on the team for 3 years now, its not like this is a new thing and this is their 2nd coach so she obviously has some talent.  i mean people like you dont belong to be posting here but yet here you are, so why are you crying?

after the way we played vs Robert Morris, Kent State would beat our ass by 60 with their girl kicker and all

Heard not one coach said a word to montgomery tonight, after last weeks locker room news, it doesnt look good for him to make it to the end of the season, sounds like he's not liked by one single guy on the team.

For clarification, our defense only recorded two sacks. Derek rivers and terrell williams each had one sack. Also, we were +3 in the turnover margin.

Yeah thats not true because Rivers had at least 3 of his own.  you should use facts

Dude, please....you're very new to the forum.  Before you continue to call people out....do YOUR homework.  YO Show was right.  Please read below, these are the FACTS based on the YSU website.   Rivers also had 2 tackles for loss, which ARE NOT sacks.  Did you say you played???  SMH!!!!

http://ysusports.com/sports/fball/2015-16/boxscores/20150905_ygbz.xml

I watched the game, i dont give a fvck what the worthless box score says, those are WRONG plain and simple. I say Rivers take down Voytik behind the LOS 3 times, thats a SACK, time for you to shut the hell up and learn something about football before you post again, is that understood? Fvkcing loser like you thinks your allowed to tell me im wrong, thats way too funny folks, way too funny.  go learn what a fact is then get back to me

What's your deal?  You don't sound like an athlete that should be approaching his early 50's you sound like a punk kid and surely you were educated in the English language while attending YSU.  And since you played you do recall that the stadium was full every game and an additional home game was added because of how healthy attendance was back in those days?  Consider that the population of Ytown is half of what is was in the early 1990's.  Consider that the people on the fan board are the ones that provide to the athletic scholarship fund and attend the games.  Consider that ~85% of the people living in Ytown only attended high school and they value watching that garbage level of football over YSU.  Consider that the students don't attend well and the average age of the fans attending is reaching geriatric status.  I think the real issue you have is with everyone else and not the board.  The people on the board know football and we know what championship level football looks like, however, some people on here believe that Shane Montgomery's fluffy offense will get the job done.  That is their right and until we prove we can run A-gap power plays against good teams consistently (and I haven't seen it yet) I will remain a critic of Montgomery's offense.

As far as defense is concerned I think that we have some good pieces in place but where the hell were the LB's during the Pitt game.  Surely you saw what I saw there.  We haven't had good LB play since the days of John Heacock and we haven't had championship level LB play since the Tressel days.

The anger you direct at us isn't necessarily targeted at the right audience.  Go tell the Vindicator to make YSU front page under all circumstances.  Voice your concerns of how YSU plays second fiddle to HS sports.  Get people out to the games and make it part of your Saturday.  Needs to be a family event just like most on tho board.  Tell other mill creek park to schedule all of their kids events on Sunday during football season.  I can't tell you how many times some other community activity competed against YSU games.  This kind of BS needs to stop.

Btw.  Yes I agree the box score has a factor of human error in it and humans are only 80% effective.

how about the fact ive been shown nothing but disrespect from the start? I dont know how many times people have questioned my intelligence on here, by people that actually think they matter in life and think they should have an opinion. And do you recall how empty the stadium is when they aren't in the good days and winning playoff games? i sure do, its pathetic. and yes my anger is directed at the right people, you people (and yes i mean that in the derogatory term) is for the right people since some of you think you know football when im willing to bet its mostly high school drop outs with zero athletic ability that post here.

YSU isn't the problem, its sh**ty fans with a sh**ty fan base that doesn't deserve to see another winning program. Period.

It's always great when someone who is wrong admonishes someone else about being factual. Sigh.

Except im not wrong, but then again i dont expect anyone in here to know how to spell the word football let alone know a single thing about it. Theres a reason why we hated playing for ysu "fans", Most uneducated people ive ever met when it comes to football and only show up when YSU wins.

Most fan bases won't show up if the team doesn't win. The Cleveland Browns might be the lone exception.

Thats what makes it a sh**ty fan base. Period.

Akron 14 point dogs to Pitt....at home.  I'd personally take Pitt even with a bigger spread.  Akron couldn't cover the +31 at Oklahoma.

The novelty of another steel-tire match would draw fans to the Info....Akron has tried everything else...including giving away tuition $$...they can't even pay their students to go.....another season of an empty Info and they will be desperate for solutions...and may consider playing YSU...and maybe even Horizon /MVFC or OVC membership.  The decision to drop baseball was only a beginning, IMO.

Akron has bigger things to worry about then sports.  If things keep heading the direction they are, ill say Akron is no longer a university in 5 years, and shutdown all together in 10-15

Think Kennedy can be one of the best of all time, not sure people know how impressive it is to make a 44 yarder in that stadium.

YSUFB93, it was nothing against you personally, I just wanted to mention this because I saw your number and I figured you didn't realize you were mistaken. For the record, I would never minimize stats obtained by any player, YSU or otherwise. That is just disrespectful to the athlete. Rivers certainly was a big impact player for YSU against Pitt, but he didn't have as many sacks as you were claiming is all.

Yes he did, thats a fact.  Pelini even said so himself, you should learn how to stop lying, not a quality trait for a human being. you should also learn to be more respectful.

If you go to YSU to get the site taken down, perhaps you can sit in on an English class. Apparently you didn't get to many the first time around.

GLad you feel the need to trash the YSU education system, must not be a fan.

Relax...Pitt is "Big 5" its not like we played a MAC team.

You simply cannot compare their athletes and depth. Be happy you got 37 and they played very conservatively.

its also not like we played Ohio State either. we played an Indiana/Illinois level team.  They got 37 when 13 of that came on defense and special team. Whoop de doo

Hey FB93 ...make your point in college educated language and it will stay. BTW ...nice to know your D can get a pick-6 ...now if you can figure out how to stop offenses from rushing for 325-yards against us?

im not concerned about it staying, your opinion doesn't matter. and if you question my intelligence in any way shape or form again ill be getting this website taken down, is that understood? it wouldn't be hard to walk right into ysu and have it taken down for one of 2 reasons, one your personal attacks towards my intelligence as a admin no less if this site is with the university, or two, for using the ysu brand name and logo without their permission, thats not a threat, its a promise.

BTW now if only our offense can figure out how to score without the defense playing backups and third stringers.

Boy are you guys tough on our kids!  My take on this was we played great,  Played hard to the very end, (which didn't happen under Wolford) and we got beat by a better team.  Pitt was stronger inside, bigger and faster outside.  They couldn't stop Stubbs last time we played, couldn't stop him this time either.  They also couldn't stop Webb.  They are going to give up a LOT of points to D-1 schools.  Somebody ripped me Friday for complementing the 2 deep depth chart because they were all Wolford's recruits, but the Pelini guys made huge impacts yesterday.  Alexander, the linebackers etc.  Bodes well going forward.  We lost, but we showed toughness and heart and aggression.  MUCH more GOOD than bad IMO!

So you didnt watch the game at all then. Webb was shut down easy outside of 2 runs. Stubbs did nothing outside of 1 catch. Rivers was our best defensive player with 4 sacks, a wolford guy.

I really think the injury to Ruiz was significant. To all the Monty haters out there it changed the offensive game plan up drastically. Boy would it have been nice to have Ryan Moore today there just isn't enough depth at the RB position. The passing game was solid considering the intense pressure Wells was under all day. To many dropped passes and the center needs to get the ball up it really messed the timing up all day. Offensively  Pitt capitalize big time on our 2nd level of defenders all day. That is the difference from  a F.B.S. power 5 school and the F.C.S level..overall it was just a great team effort and this type of game will only help the Guins in the long run.

Funny thing is you think there are such things as "monty haters" when its really people living in reality and monty knob slobbers.
