We will host a Tournament on Nov 17th to 19th
Teams are Niagara and Utah Tech. Utah Tech was in the NIT TOURNAMENT.
-
I made a mistake it was Utah Valley that made a run in the NIT. Utah Tech was 14 - 19 I believe.
-
You are forgiven! Utah Valley would be a much tougher opponent after watching them in their NIT match up last season! Not saying would shouldn't beat them though!

@ University of Dayton on 11/24.

JCC-Where did you hear about the Dayton game???
-
Dayton’s website: https://daytonflyers.com/news/2023/7/25/mens-basketball-mens-basketball-announces-2023-24-non-conference-schedule.aspx
Initially saw a post on twitter.
Also, @ University of Michigan on 11/10

Wonder what the rest of our non conference schedule is like.

Coach was talking about it, but said he cold not give any name until after the deal was signed. He just said it was a major in-state opponent, so I figured we were squeezing in UC or Dayton. If it is a multiple-game deal it would almost have to be UD.
-
Coach was on a podcast and mentioned that we have some non D1 opponents and an in state opponent coming back with an anticipated contract. I assume that Dayton is the opponent. Be nice to get a home game of an in state school. I hear we have Navy at home this year possibly. Plus the tournament at home.
-
It was the portal report posted by someone else here on this site. Must view material.
-
I think we had home and home schedules with Southern and Ohio U.
-
Navy at home for a game. Don't know the date yet.
-
How did we end up with so many bad non competitive home opponents?
Ohio Christian
Lake Erie
Utah Tech
Westminster
Bethany
I know Utah Tech was part of. Niagara weekend tournament.

Yikes! Did the schedule get changed from initial one that came out? I swear I don't remember seeing all those non D1 games. I don't ever remember more than 2 or maybe 3 max non D1 games (outside of the COVID year). This year is 4...1 D2, 2 D3 & an NAIA! Did one or two schools back out from the schedule? I really didn't think Coach liked these games other than Westminster.
-
Niagara and Western Illinois backed out of the contract leaving us just a couple weeks to find an opponent. Sad for RPI. We will need to beat some good teams this year for sure. The NIT has changed its qualifying as the regular season winners do NOT receive an auto bid to the NIT anymore. Not good news.
-
Lake Erie replaced Niagara while ohio dom replaced w. Illinois. That's are the only changes. At least we have 4 guaranteed wins. Now we have to get a victory over Michigan and Dayton. The team we got can do this.
-
I thought I remember Niagara being on there. Definitely doesn't help the RPI. Also makes for a pretty sh**ty non-conference home schedule. And the Navy game is a midweek afternoon game.
-
What is up with mid week afternoon game? Kids Game?

Not sure, maybe because of it being Christmas week? The women play at 11 AM.
-
I live out of town and was coming up for the Friday Sunday Utah Tech and Niagara games and now they're playing freaking Lake Erie instead. Probably see a lot of back ups get some minutes.
-
I meant to say Ohio Christian not Ohio Dominican.

Calhoun had a press conference yesterday and mentioned that starting April 1st renovations to Beeghly will take place. Thank God and that is great news. I am sure more to come on the scope of the renovations.
Cannot wait. Go Guins!!!
-
I just looked at the starting times of the home games. What's up with a 6:30pm start time? 7pm was perfect, no one starts games at 6:30pm. Is there a reason for this new start time?

The party line is that we want to attract more kids. Nobody seems capable of understanding that parents need to bring the kids to the games. A parent with a 9-5 job goes home, dines, and drives to the campus for a 7:00 tip. A tight schedule but workable. A 6:30 start time will eliminate those families. YSU athletic marketing at its finest.
-
I'd rather start the games at say 7 PM or even later, like 7:30 PM. It brings more people to the games. 6 30s just not the right thing to do. I may walk in late for a few.
-
Unless the 6:39 pm start time would allow the parents to get younger kids home for earlier bed time during school days and/or YSU students could still make the 8 pm evening classes.

So what are the renovations?
