Any report on Randall-Posey? He raised an arm to the crowd on the way out of the stadium to the ambulance.  That was a good sign.  Hope he was cleared to make it home with the team.

#35 was the unlucky number yesterday. Not only is that Randall-Posey's number, that's the number of SDSU's best running back, Wallace, who also left the stadium in an ambulance. All we know about Wallace is he suffered a season-ending hip injury. He's a senior.

Best of luck to you guys the remainder of the season.

GREAT VICTORY PENGUINS!  That was a fun game to watch.  Your team and its coaches represented YSU (and the MVFC) well!
Congrats!
JackJD  (Jackrabbit fan and, today and through the game at Frisco, Penguin fan).

Pretty amazing attention YSU football has been getting across the nation all based on rumors of Coach Pelini!  Well, whoever your new coach is, everyone will have heard of him and that's an opportunity. Recruits will know his name when he calls.  Best of luck to you in selecting a good one which, in the end, benefits the entire MVFC.

Here's a short "Q & A" with SDSU's coach from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader newspaper (not a lot of substance but a point or two that may be of some interest):
http://www.argusleader.com/story/sports/college/south-dakota-state-university/2014/10/21/first-pitch-qa-sdsus-john-stiegelmeier/17701775/

The Argus Leader will be giving increasing coverage to Saturday's game as the week winds down.

For many of us old timers (I guess that's what I've become), playing Youngstown is a big deal.  When I attended SDSU, we played YSU quarterbacked by Ron Jaworski and those teams and YSU's tradition and football reputation attracted a lot of attention.

I hope some YSU fans make the trek for Hobo Day, one of the most unique homecomings in America.  Safe travels!

...Aside from Veterinary medicine (which has a waiting list of almost an entire generation ...almost 15-years); Pharmacy is the next largest waiting-list program at Ohio State. Why? People make as much money as an MD, without all the studying and interning. The need for these people is enormous.
....

Frequent reader but very infrequent poster...thought I would add a couple comments.  The demand for Pharmacists has declined in the past eight years but still remains relatively strong.  Two of my sons are  relatively-recently minted Pharmacists.  Pharmacists do not make "about as much money as an MD" but they get paid very well.  I think all Pharmacy schools in the USA now grant the Pharm.D (doctorate) degree and there are no 5-year degree programs.  The programs are all 6 or 7 year programs.  They include a year of rotations (usually 4 to 6 week stints in a particular area of training such as the hospital setting or retail setting or formulary setting etc.).  Many Pharmacy students are now entering special one- or two-year residency programs (this is post-degree) to develop specialization - -that's pretty much a requirement for being a Pharmacist in a hospital these days (one of my sons, for example, works primarily in a metropolitan hospital's cardiology department, adjusting drugs etc for heart patients including transplant patients; my other son works in the hospital setting too and is a little less specialized but is spending a great deal of time in the cancer clinic).

Anyway, adding a Pharmacy doctorate is not a bad idea.  A lot of health care these days is through the administration of drugs and likely that will grow in the future.   It's true, as IAA Fan indicated, legislatures can quickly change the law and allow greater numbers of Pharmacy Techs to work under one supervising Pharmacist but there are still certain jobs within Pharmacy that require the Pharmacy degree.  And, the growth in the number of hospital Pharmacists seems certain to stay on its steep path.

So, add a Pharmacy degree and require every Pharmacy student to be a wrestler (I don't want to be accused of going off topic).

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Football @ SDSU in-game thread

I've been a frequent visitor to this board since SDSU joined the MVFC...but, I've been an infrequent poster (and the inner voice is telling me now is not the time to post!).

I know that SDSU's passing statistics for the season leading up the Saturday's game, were awful.  On one of the threads on this board,  there were a couple of posts that noted SDSU's passing game was supposed to be real solid -- at least that was the pre-season prediction.  Those comments made some SDSU fans chuckle.  We've been complaining about a one-dimensional offense:  Zach Zenner,  the nation's leading rusher, but no complimentary passing game.

However, there are some important facts that SDSU fans had to keep in mind and those facts may at least explain some of Saturday's game result.

The Jackrabbits' quarterback, Austin Sumner, was one of the top quarterbacks in the league last year -- as a red-shirt freshman who only played seven games.  He was throwing to Dale Moss -- a basketball player who came out for football for just last year.  (Moss is currently a receiver in the Tampa Bay organization on its practice squad with an excellent chance of making the playing roster next year.)  We thought Sumner would  start this season where he left off last season.  But, in practice prior to the first game, Sumner dislocated his thumb on his throwing hand and it was a serious injury.  About two weeks ago we started hearing the thumb was starting to come around.  Obviously, by Saturday the thumb was now significantly improved and Sumner gained confidence with every throw.  If you were able to watch the game, you'd note he was highly accurate.

Another fact:  our expected top receiver, Aaron Rollin, took a super-hard hit in the second game against SE Louisiana and bruised his lungs.  Weird injury.  He was hospitalized for several days and then had to be driven back to South Dakota because the injury prevented him from flying (concern about clots).  So, he was out for several games. On Saturday, it appears he was returning to form.

YSU prepared to meet a running game.  Made good sense because that's all SDSU has had this year,...until Saturday.  Now that our passing game has returned, we went with it.  Our great running back, Zenner, had a light day and it was the first time he ran fewer than 100 yards in a game (he still averaged more than 5 yards per carry).

Every time SDSU has won this season (we're 6-2 overall, 4-1 MVFC), fans of our opponents have ripped on their teams and coaches because they lost to an inferior team.  We're hoping Southern Illinois fans do that this Saturday.

I was a student at SDSU when we first started playing Youngstown in the early 1970s (Jaworski).  The Youngstown games were big deals, attracting as much or more attention than some of the conference games against regular rivals.  Saturday's game was a big deal -- it was our homecoming but it was also a game against a known and respected opponent.  14,966 fans showed up in less-than-ideal weather (our games also have to compete against the best pheasant hunting in the country).  Met some YSU loyalists who drove in from Idaho!
