Selections are Sunday night. Does anyone know if we will have a home game? I think they go off on fan support and attendance if i am not mistaken
-
If going by location, we could play Toledo, Cinci or Dayton! If we go 2 vs 7, we could end up playing Wisconsin!
-
The NIT is still a good consolation after a disappointing ending. It’s the equivalent of playing in a minor bowl in FBS-teams with name recognition not really playing for anything. No Madison Square Garden ending this year though-semi’s and finals in Las Vegas for next three years.
-
One NIT projection has YSU in the Providence Region playing Pitt. Probably makes sense but we'll know for sure Sunday.
-
Pitt might be in the big dance. I've heard either Michigan, Dayton or Cincy.
-
Zero chance that YSU will host a home game.
-
Don't forget Duquesne. They might be included in the NIT
-
Just watched a story ON CBS about Kennesaw State 1st ever appearance in the Ncaa tournament. Just think they could have been us. So close.
-
Does anybody know how many division one basketball teams have not made the NCAA tournament? Are we like only one without an appearance?
-
Chicago St comes to mind but we have to be one of a few that hasn't made the dance.
-
I found it. Just like 30 or so teams and we are one of the longest to be in Division 1 along with western Illinois. The rest are programs that most recently joined div 1. What a shame.
-
I counted 35 besides the transitional provisions schools of today like Bellarmine.
-
Fort Wayne is the only other school in our conference that hasn't made the dance...just two of us...and they have less time logged in division 1. Wow. I guess it's been long overdue
-
As if I didn’t already think our loss was pitiful. Reading the above just makes it that much worse. What’s shame.
-
NIT selection show is 10pm on ESPNU. We shall see who we are playing
-

Pittsburgh is in NCAA as a play in team. It doesn’t like they will play us in the NIT.
-
All speculation right now. We will find out around 10pm
-

Like I said. Dayton cannot host because they host the last 4 in games so it's looking like Michigan, Cincy or Rutgers.
-
Maybe Akron, Toledo, or even Ohio State . Duquesne a possibility if they get in. NIT can now take teams with losing records so OSU is not out of the show yet.
-
I have a funny feeling the NIT committee will take a few teams with losing records if the teams they offer it to with winning records turn them down. Cincy is now looking like a possibility. Could be a handful of teams that we can play. Most likely away
-
OSU is not an option for the NIT! The coach said they have to heal before considering any tournament action1
-
Oklahoma state.
-
I think that game is here in Youngstown due to issues with Oklahoma states arena issues.
-
They are vague on the location tho.
-
It's in Youngstown. Wow

That's was my understanding too.
-
The game is at Beeghly

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowboys have been tabbed the No. 1 overall seed in the NIT on Sunday evening after failing to reach the NCAA tournament earlier in the day.
They’ll be facing Youngstown State on Wednesday out on the road. OSU is the host school for the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Tulsa this week, so the athletic department didn’t put in a bid to host.
The Cowboys finished the 2022-23 season with an 18-15 overall record and an 8-10 record in conference play, with a couple of very disappointing losses in the non-conference that really hurt their NCAA chances.
It was a rough start to conference play, but the Pokes rattled off seven out of eight wins, including a four-game win streak that included ranked wins over Iowa State and TCU.
The Cowboys also completed season sweeps of OU and the Cyclones, as well as a third win over the Sooners which came in the Big 12 tournament.
-
Wow.
-
Biggest team to come here since women played Tennessee. Unbelievable. Let's all turn out and wear red and I hope they have those stands on the one side open for this huge game. We can sell the arena out if we do. STROLLO OPEN THE ONE SIDE AND DONT CATER TO THE BOOSTERS.
-
Interesting they are a #1 seed with that record. Some close losses against some top tier teams like Kansas.
Nonetheless, what an amazing opportunity for YSU. One more chance to showcase this team at home... this time against a Power 5 opponent. Pretty awesome!
-
If the Penguins win, they will add to the school record for most wins in a season and advance to the Second Round on March 18-19 to face to winner of 4-seed Washington State and Eastern Washington.

Pride, opening the west side bleachers (and thus making the gym look like a real basketball arena) would require moving the cameras (assuming that this game will be televised.) That means EXTRA WORK. How dare you propose such a logical concept that would require the athletic department to perform EXTRA WORK.
-
Looks like ESPN+
-
It's on ESPN + . ALL OF OUR GAMES HAVE FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND THEY HAD THE STANDS UP UNTIL JANUARY OF THIS YEAR. THEY CAN DO IT. MISSING SALES IF THEY DON'T BUT WHAT DO I KNOW.

It's not for the boosters, it was for the students. We shall see what they do Wednesday.
-
I will find out tomorrow.
-
Students? Boosters get food their..Students are in the stands.
-
"Tickets are $20 - reserved seats, $15 - general admission, $10 for YSU students. Courtside Coaches members and season-ticket holders have until Tuesday, at 5 p.m. to renew their seats. A limited number of reserved seats are available beginning Monday at 9 a.m."
-
Didn't see this coming! Big 12 school at Beeghley! Fill the stands Youngstown!
-
Trust me chief, not opening the stands is NOT because of the students, it's because of boosters, serving food.
-

Oklahoma St. is 43 in the net. They are the highest of the #1 seeds. North Texas is 38 and a #2 seed.
YSU is now 123 in the net; still highest in the Horizon. NKU is up to 154. They got a #16 seed in the NCAA tourney and are a 19.5 point underdog to Houston.
The only common opponent Oklahoma St. played was Oakland and they won by 29. OSU lost to UConn by 10. Lost to Texas all 3 games by double figures. Lost to Kansas by 2 and 9. Lost to Baylor & Kansas St, twice. Split with WVU & TCU.
OSU only averages 68.5 a game and gives up 66.1 a game. They only shoot 31% from 3 and under 70% from the FT line.
Let's hope OSU takes YSU lightly. If YSU can shoot the ball well and score, play decent defense, get the crowd involved they might have a shot. However, if they play like they did down the stretch it's going to be tough sledding.

It looks like they will be selling upper level seats on the west side
-

Shows how much I know..lol.
Thank goodness for the NCAA Wrestling Event in Stillwater!
-
I normally buy my tickets on line but i am near downtown Y-town today and plan to stop in to the ticket office before 3pm. I'll ask if they plan to open up that side for the biggest game of YSU most recent history. besides i want a paper ticket just in case we upset the Oklahoma St and i got proof that i was there
-
Let us know how ticket sales are!
-
YSU plus 6-1/2 vs Ohlahoma State
-
Girl behind the window said ticket sales are strong. A few fans were In front of me as well. She.didn't have a clue about the west side opening up though.
-
How much was the bid to host the game? Remember, YSU doesn't keep the whole gate. Therefore, they have a motivation $$$$$$ to open the west bleachers.
-
GoodNews good point
-
Penguins need to go on a St. Peters or Butler type run through the NIT!
-
Oklahoma States front court will be very hard to contain and score on in the paint. Their athleticism and length will be overwhelming.
-
Most size we have faced all year. Let's hope we can contain them.
-
What is the injury status of Malek Green? If he can not play, it might get ugly real fast.
-
I hear ticket sales are very very strong. Lets pack the house and be loud like never before. Louder than the games with Milwaukee or Detroit in the playoffs. Anyone Disagree???
-
If what I read is true the NCAA keeps all ticket sales. I assume YSU keeps concession sales and parking. Also, the traveling team gets their expenses reimbursed. In addition, each school is paid $4,000 for each game played.
-
GoodNews where did you find that info??
-

I heard all teams split the pot at the end of the tournament. The more games you play, the more you make.

Malek will be playing
