YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Wheary cut from team
« on: October 15, 2014, 04:25:31 PM »
Unfortunate for the young man. But this is not an isolated incident. Hopefully this is the wake up call he needs, football is secondary, being a good citizen/person is the most important thing. Wish him nothing but the best and hope all works out for him.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Hunter Wells Starting QB....
« on: October 14, 2014, 01:12:27 PM »
According to Dana Balash, Coach Wolf has said that  Hunter Wells will be the starter on Saturday. That seems like the right call. Let's hope the young man can get it done and play up to his potential.

I agree...What the hell was that at the end of the half. You know they get the ball to start the half, why not try and get as many points as possible. It was obviously gonna be a tight game. Your kicker is more than capable of making a 50+ yarder, especially with the wind at his back. That was just one of the MANY disappointments of their performance last night. Really no more room for error from this point on. It's gonna be tough to say the least.

Yes. It was definitely a missed blocking assignment, not much a punter can do at that point. The punting has improved recently at least he's starting to average over 40 yards per game now. It was defintely sub par in the first few games

Unless my info is incorrect, I believe he is on the team and has been practicing with the team. Just have no info as to why he isn't playing.

We are all waiting for Durden to become eligible, but what is the story on Lee Wright from App St. He was supposed to be another difference maker on the defensive side. Anyone have any news on him playing this year?

Looks like the game will be available on the Stretch Internet via the YSU football website.

Does anyone know if the game will be available for viewing live? I live in the south and I don't see that the game will be on ESPN3. Is there a website I can stream the game?

YSU Penguin Athletics / QB Situation
« on: August 31, 2014, 06:05:28 PM »
I love Nania, he's a scrappy player but he has limitations as a QB. I would like to see Wells play the next 3 games, so he gets some experience and let the coaches get him ready for MVFC play. They could use Nania as a change of pace QB maybe put in a "Wildcat" package. Wells probably gives us the best chance to win the tough games.

YSU's Cejudo named special teams Missouri Valley Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Missouri -YSU's Joey Cejudo has been named special teams Missouri Valley Football Conference Player of the week after his performance against Illinois.
Cejudo made three field goals and averaged 38.3 yards on seven punts against Illinois. He made kicks of 29, 33 and 36 in the contest for the Penguins' first three-FG game since 2010 vs. North Dakota State.

He had a long punt of 47 yards and placed two inside the opponents 20.

Cejudo also had two touchbacks on four kickoffs and had an assisted tackle on kickoff return.

We all know the kid made a terrible blunder. Overall he had a nice game and we probably aren't in the game without his 3 FG's

Just as I predicted... I think it'll be fine. Nania is seviceable and Hunter best be ready because he will definitely see action.

Nania will start, this is probably the best choice. But if he gets banged up, most likely he will, he has a history and he is not the biggest guy. Hunter Wells will be the back up. He has been having a very impressive Fall Camp. Ricky Davis has slipped to third on the depth chart. Garry and Wargo not really in the discussion

YSU Penguin Athletics / Defensive Help--FBS Transfers
« on: August 13, 2014, 01:17:10 PM »
It looks like the defense has received some support from the FBS. Handful of new players should definitely contribute...

* Nate Dortch, CB --Univ of Miami
* Kenneth Durden, CB --Univ S. Florida
* LaRon Taylor, LB --Univ of Iowa
* Lee Wright, LB -- Appalachian State

Hopefully these men can solidify the defense.

According to the article Vince Coleman is not on the team. Any info as to why he is no longer with the team? He was gonna be a bright spot for the defense.
