Title: Fire Montgomery Thred!
Post by: ysubigred on November 16, 2013, 05:06:39 PM
Seriously!! Are you Defense haters convinced that YSU can't get it done on offense against a well coached above .500 team??

#12's records are so skewed.. by the last 4 years of a weak OOC schedule against Jerry's Kids, the blind center and Amputee U.. It showed today when the 2nd string QB didn't have but 4 snaps +/- all year with the 1st 3 games in a blow out...

Just sayin  :o

Red,

If you were still in Youngstown and watched this defense in person, you might share this conclusion with some of us.  Look, every kid that plays college football is very good, regardless of the level.  But when comparing this defense to the championship units of the 90s, here is what one sees: the defensive line stinks, the secondary stinks, and the linebackers are barely adequate.  Until Wolford, or the next guy, elevates those rankings to at least the "above average" level, we will have a bad football team.

I was ticked at Wolf for his triad in the 3rd qtr that got us a penalty and killed a nice drive.  We had a little mo going and then he lost his cool. You just cannot do that kind of thing in a big game. Head coach needs to be under control at all times during the game, watch some film on John Wooden wolf.

He needs to go. Play calling stinks, gets the plays in way too late. Putting people in bad decisions.... Montgomery got canned from Miami for a reason. Time to go Shane

Wick,

I know that the Defense is less than stellar. Basically, I'm just being a pain in the assss  ::)  If I can remember where I posted it, I said the whole team stinks even the water boy at one point LOL.. It's bad when your best player is a punter/kick off specialist. My point in being such a pain is, that it's not all the Defense's fault as to a bunch of the uninformed on here lead themselves to believe. I'm not sure the YSU Defense's of the 90's could help the offense/Coaches pull their heads out of their 4th point of contact against equal of superior competition.. it would just be a little closer of a "L"  ;)  I wish Indy would/could bring up the stats for us on how #12 and YSU's high powered offense's numbers decline against .500 team on our level... In my opinion YSU has 3 great wins and 2 good win in the last 5 years the rest of the "W" were expected.

You can't wish for a championship!  Prepare for the game dammit. Bottom line is the coaches did not have the team prepared adequately for this type of high intensity game.  This was our Super Bowl, and we did not show up.  What did the coaches talk about at halftime.  I seriously doubt it was football.

NDSU did nothing flashy.  They dominated the LOS and won the game.  We converted only 3 third downs.  Regardless of who was at QB we don't win this game.  hard to accept but ultimately true.  The size of their team was impressive adn they were faster than you would think.  They will win the NC this year no doubt.  I thought we had some success passing against them.  We should have passed more but without Hess it was an impossibility. Maybe a different game?  Not sure .  We never put them in any position to have to make a play.  The defense is just not good enough to stop them.  Defense win championships and we don't have it yet.  Ugh.

Bottom line is if we lose next week, and leave it up to the committee, I think many who dreamed Play-Offs will disappointed.

You would be surprised how much better everything would look if we had a couple disruptive D-linemen.

They are below avaerage as a unit, and their inability to pass rush hurts the LB's and DB's...they can't cover for 5-6 seconds at a time.

Not ripping any of the kids, I'm sure they give it their all but an upgrade here would be a huge boost.

Good God all you guys do is complain. Montgomery is doing just fine as our offensive coordinator! We are top 20 in the FCS and #2 in the MVFC.

What more do you people want?

To not have to waste time outs because he takes forever to get the play call in... How about not have so much conservative play calling??

#2 in Red Zone scoring. ...... #20 in Offensive scoring.

And considering that if the defense could get a few more stops during the game and get the ball back to our offense they would have even better stats. When the D doenst get off the field only yakes away from the offense

TOP is skewed because the defense is so bad on 3rd down, and 1st and 2nd down

We scored rather quickly against USD and a few other teams this year, so that stat is skewed. Fumbles are definitely a problem. The fumble vs. UNI killed us by Ruiz.

However, to argue against #20 offense and #2 redzone offense is ridiculous... When we get in the redzone, we score almost every single time; more often than not those scores are touchdowns and not field goals.

What's skewed is the #20 Scoring and #2 Red zone offense... take away the Blind Center, Jerry's kids and Amputee U to start the season and those numbers would change. The only game that the O was impressive was against ISU (r) at our level.

TOP was skewed the last 2 games because the defense can't get off the field. NDSU had 24 first downs and they got 15 of them without even making to 3rd down. We only stopped them on 3 of 9 thrid downs. That means they possess the ball and take away TOP from our offense. Yes sometimes we have boneheaded play calling that messes up a series, but the offense is usually good for 4 long drives per game against good defenses.

Lets see.. YSU forced 3 TO's and 3 punts the last game against NDSU. YSU punted 5 times and had two turn overs... One of YSU's 3 and out was :55 seconds right after turn over #2.  Sooo.. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Bye bye Shane. Go somewhere else with your so called "sophisticated" offense.
