Now that we finally have a video board inside Beeghly Center and now that the Softball field has been built on campus along with the Soccer and Track complex built next to it.... What do you guys think should be the next upgrade?? Personally, I would like to see a new video scoreboard at Stambaugh stadium along with a new sound system. That or some better seating inside Beeghly Center. Thoughts?

10-4 on that!
-
get rid of the bleachers - new scoreboard would be nice but 6 home games for that and 25-30 home games for bb and add in vb so new permanent armed chairs get my vote
-
New chair back seating in Beeghly, both for the reserve sections near the floor and the general admission areas higher up. We would lose some capacity but the improvement in the atmosphere would be unbelievable. Months ago one poster from Pittsburgh showed us how much better the facility at Duquesne looked after they had replaced old bleachers with chair back seats.

The chairbacks by the floor are fine. I sit in them every game and they do the job. I would actually prefer just getting the red plastic bleachers popping up at area high schools. I know Fitch, Boardman, Mooney, and Ursuline all recently installed them. Those would be just as nice and would not diminish capacity. Now the area's behind the basket could use some fixing up, but let's just win first.
I am expecting 20 win seasons for the men and women this year. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that was a possibility 5 years ago.

If YSU really cares about basketball then the court-side bleachers need to go. I don't mind the end-zone bleachers, that's a little different. Red seats should be installed on both sides to match the ones already there. That would make the arena look great, we would lose some numbers but that would be okay. Here is the picture again of what Duquesne did with the Palumbo Centre:

I agree. Red chairs on both sides

However, do not droll over Duquesne's arena. It is a near carbon copy of Beeghly Center and the concourse is tiny and much smaller. The seats behind the baskets are worse than Beeghly's.
Yet, they do have a great scoreboard and nice chairbacks going up on those sides.
-
I sit in the end-zone so I say we order backed chairs there also

were these buildings we are comparing built around the same time? Seriously I remember going to game there a few years ago during the Robic years and it felt as if I was walking into Beeghly. I wonder if they had the same architect firm.
-
I was at a game at Ravenna High School a few weeks ago, and the video portion of their new scoreboard is nicer than YSU's, but I think I would rather see them upgrade the seating in Beeghly before installing a new video board at Stambaugh.
-
Didn't Coca-Cola pay for our last score board in Stambaugh?

Beeghly opened in 1972 and the end zone renovations were completed in 1983 with the move to Division I.
Palumbo opened in 1988 with renovations in 2007 and 2010 (per the ever reliable Wikipedia).

Hoops,
I seem to recall a media report that Duquesne examined the plans for Beeghly Center when they were looking to construct a facility of about the same size. That might account for the architectural similarity.
-
I would just like to have a scoreboard I can actually watch replays on and not have to squint my eyes to see it! Lol. It's outdated

How about this guys???? ;) ;)

Um-we aren't filling the stadium to capacity now.

I know lol. It was a joke. Be cool just to see it done though!

reverse pete at midfield so it faces the "away" stands this way it will appear right side up on tv. I also wouldn't min changing the midfield log rom pete to the "Y" that is on the new soccer field and atop the watts center.
I actually talked to rick love about reversing pete and he said they have had a lot of discussions about doing this the next time they replace the turf. It may seem a minor issue to some but I think it is important for the midfield log to appear right side up on television. it looks like YSU is chooch university as it is now.
-
Not sure if any of you know the real reason that Pete is upside down. The reason it's upside down is because when the stadium was constructed the TV connections were put on the east side of the stadium so that when games were televised the audience wasn't looking at an open field.
-
I just hate how un even our stands look with the east side so small but I know there is nothing we can do. Regardless, it is time to get a new video scoreboard for the stadium. C'mon Strollo, get some funds coming in!
-
Who cares if Pete is upside down for TV, it's facing the home side and it should remain that way. More important things to do di with the stadium like a bigger scoreboard and better sound system.
-
We don't even pack our current 20,630 seat stadium, yet some of you want to expand our current stadium... For what reason? Such an idea is absurd and ridiculous IMHO. Furthermore, the Penguin faces the large side of the stadium, loges, press box, etc. Who cares if it is upside down on TV. Sorry we don't have an O that looks the same on either side like our friends in Columbus.
-
anyone who thinks that pete should face the home stands and thus be upside down on tv is backwards.
it just doesn't look professional.
also I would like to see YSU get rid of the artificial turf and go to a natural grass field. I know it's artificial because they use it a lot more than just on gamedays and the heavy use would tear up the grss, but still an all grass field would be neat. football should be played and grass and grass just looks a lot better.
I remember when ysu installed the video board an strollo said it was state of the art and would rival major fbs programs video boards. I don't know what he was drinking but the video board needs replaced.
when are they going to construct a bronze statue of tressel? Ray Isaac should get a bronze statue as well. oh wait he got a lifetime ban from YSU. Sounds hypocritical to me.
go guins!

The expanding the stadium was a joke. Don't get your panties in a bunch lol

A new baseball field somewhere around campus or downtown.

Do not see it happening but it would be nice, heck Slippery Rock has one.
