ILSU bidding for homes games and how it could change the start time of our basketball game against them. It also mentions the bids are due November 17th and how YSU is also competing for a playoff spot.

Extremely interesting interview with the UNI AD regarding the playoff selection process. I find it interesting that they do go about watching a lot of game film on each team, they look for teams moving up, not down (like us last year) at the end of the season, and how they pretty much have a bracket in mind each week.

Thanks for the share, very interesting.

The 96 team was 8-3, but 3 of the wins were over teams from D2. The 01 team was 8-3, but had 2 wins over D2 teams. YSU also lost at home to WKU when 6-1/4-1 and WKU was 5-2/2-1.
In 95, YSU finished 8-3, but lost back-to-back at UNI and SIU. YSU started the season 7-1/4-0, then finished 1-2 in the final 3 games. They also had a win over a D2 team and lost 41-0 at PITT.

I have to disagree with you on 2005 because of who they took instead of YSU. 8-3 Lafayette co-champs of the Patriot League was awarded an at large selection even though they were ranked 41st in the regular season ending GPI. YSU was ranked 12th, and they were ranked higher in each of the 7 computer polls that make up the GPI. The Patroit league's auto-bid went to co-champ Colgate, who had a GPI ranking of 40. UNI and SIU shared the Gateway crown with the Guins, and were 7th and 9th in the GPI. As a conference, the Gateway was 1st in the GPI and the Patriot 9th. YSU's 3 losses were all on the road to 2 playoff teams and a BCS member school. Lafayette's losses all came at home to Colgate and two Ivy league squads.
Penguin Nation:
Samford in 2013 was ranked lower in every poll including the SRS and was also 8-4, and a member of an inferior conference (Southern). They lost 2 of their last three, and the one win of those three was in OT.
Samford would've also gone 0-3 against UNI, SDSU and NDSU....as would most of the 2013 playoff selections.
YSU was more deserving by every measure.
Penguin Nation:
No Bowls has 5 MVFC teams getting at-large invites....including YSU. fb
