Alternate Uniforms...
« on: July 06, 2014, 12:13:21 PM »
Does anyone know if the team has an alternate uniform? Say maybe an all black uniform with a white helmet with red Y or black helmet with a red Y? That would be really cool. I'm the sure the fans and the players would love it. Not to mention I'm sure that would be a plus with recruiting. If we don't have one , we need to work on it.

That sounds cool. I think the players would love that idea. :)

We have the alternate red uniforms. The black uniforms will never come back. Take a look in Mosure Hall and you will see why. Does anyone here know what that was ...I forgot.

Black uniforms were worn ONE GAME. It was the Homecoming Game in 1986, Tressel's first season. YSU lost 49-14 against Middle Tennessee. I was at the game, and it was even worse than the score would indicate.

Uniforms were never again worn for anything other than practice.

As for alternate uniforms, where is the money going to come from to pay for these uniforms? The football program already spends alot of money, and based on the programs performance the last 13 seasons, they are not deserving of alternate uniforms. This is YSU, not OSU.

In addition to being used in that ugly game that Let's Talk cited, those black uniforms offended quite a few fans who value tradition.  The school colors are red and white.  Period.  I tolerate the black pants but remove red as the dominant color and I will rebel.  Don't think that I would be alone.

Anyway, you guys do realize that the school has a $8 million deficit and that ALL departments on campus have been ordered to economize.  I suspect that Ron Strollo has more pressing problems right now.

They wore a throwback red uniform a few years ago. Fans could buy them for something like $100 after the game.

They just looked like early-mid 90's jerseys to me.

Top one is the front...25 years on the left side. 25 at Stambaugh I imagine.
