Baseball Players Earn Preseason Press
« on: February 08, 2014, 08:30:46 AM »
Five Youngstown State baseball players earned preseason recognition on Friday as College Sports Madness and Perfect Game USA released their Horizon League preseason coverage.

Senior catcher Josh White and senior infielder Phil Lipari were both tabbed preseason first-team all-conference, and outfielder Nick DiNello was named to the second team by College Sports Madness.

Perfect Game writer Allan Simpson tabbed Youngstown State pitchers Brendon Shoemake and Nic Manuppelli as the third and fifth Horizon League players who will be drafted in 2014. Simpson predicted that Shoemake will be taken between the 12th and 18th rounds, and he thinks Manuppelli will be selected between rounds 15 and 25.

The Penguins will start the 2014 season in one week with contests against Virginia Tech and Charlotte in Charlotte.
