I am talking about the team we played last night, that was a terrible basketball team. I do not care by how much they beat other teams. They were simply awful. We hold them to 27-points in the first-half, then are outscored in the second? We came out in the second half and continued to extend our lead, out to 24-points, then we simply stopped playing any defense and fouled them back into the game. You cannot be upset with people that want to see any type of authoritative-play against such a team.
I also saw some very encouraging signs as well ...at least on offense. I thought the in-game dedication was fine. We should always do more for our seniors, but we are not always going to have such a poor opponent at the end of the season to allow any half-time celebration. I was not there to see if anything was done pre-game.
Are you aware that we shot 70% in the 1st half? You expected that to continue in the 2nd half? C Mich is not worse than St Francis of PA and as Indy mentioned beat Wright St. Without your best player and a 60% Eargle the game was never in doubt. I actually feel sorry for the demented thoughts of some here. If you were a potential recruit and read some of the complete lunacy spouted here, why would you come?
I am also aware the they let CMU shoot over 50% in the second half. I am also aware that they (CMU) were 23 of 24 from the free throw line. Why were they given so many opportunities, we were just as quick as they were, with much better ball-handling skills. Superior transition game is a bunch of BS. We have the best transition game of any team in the HL, and all but maybe two teams in the MAC.
As far as recruits, it should be nice to see board activity compared to most schools. If one group sees that this should have been a blow-out, and some do not, there must be some pretty darn good ball being played here, and they had better step-up their game if they want to play here at YSU. I am not in favor of a new coach, not even close. I have always liked Slocum, always will. Any recruit that come here will learn the game. This board has always gone both ways on almost every issue.
Pretend you are a recruit. You see complaints about wins against GW and GA. You see your coach all over the sports world being asked how he managed to defeat Butler, which was in the final. Recruits may not be as smart as we want them to be sometimes, but they are not idiots. A coach like Slocum comes to your parents or grandparents house ...you listen to him. A coach like Waters stops off at the correctional facility on the way to the recruits homes.
