KP Named Horizon League POW
« on: November 19, 2012, 02:31:15 PM »
Indianapolis, Ind. -- For the second time in his career, Youngstown State junior Kendrick Perry has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Youngstown State (3-0) opened the week by rolling past Georgia, 68-56, in the Legends Classic on Monday before returning to the Beeghly Center and collecting a 75-60 victory over St. Francis (Pa.) in its home opener.

Rebounding from a stomach virus, Perry was the Penguins' leading scorer in both wins, pouring in 23 against Georgia ahead of a 19-point effort versus St. Francis. Perry went 6-for-12 from the floor in both victories, adding eight assists and six steals on the week.

Perry, who won the award on Feb. 6, 2012, averaged 21 points per game at shot 50 percent from the field in the last two games, going 6-for-12 from the floor in both games.

He connected on 10-of-11 from the free throw line against Georgia. Perry also averaged four assists and three steals per game in the last two contests.

Perry was the Penguins' most efficient player in both games as Youngstown State opened the year 3-0 for the second consecutive season.

The Penguins take on North Dakota State, Monday, Nov. 19, at 4:30 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa., as part of the Progressive Legends Classic at Duquesne University.
