« on: November 08, 2012, 12:59:08 PM »
The Youngstown State men’s and women’s basketball teams will tip off the 2012-13 season this weekend, and fans can follow the Penguins in many ways throughout the campaign.

NewsTalk 570 WKBN will once again serve as the radio home of the YSU men’s games, with the exception of this Saturday’s season opener at George Washington, which will be carried on “The Sports Animal” 1390 WNIO. Robb Schmidt will return for his 11th season of calling all the action for men’s games. ClearChannel Youngstown Radio Sports Director Jim Campbell and Mike Pilch will share the play-by-play duties for the YSU women’s basketball game broadcasts, which will be carried on 570 WKBN, 1390 WNIO or 570wkbn.com. Each broadcast will begin 20 minutes prior to tip-off with the “A.S.E.C.U. Pre-Game Show” and conclude with the “Dooney’s Post-Game Report”. The broadcast schedule and station assignments are subject to change.

Fans can watch a replay of all YSU men’s and women’s basketball home games that night at 10 p.m. on MyYTV. WYTV 33 Sports Anchor Chad Krispinsky will describe the action along with Zach Humphries. Their coverage will begin with the women’s game vs. Bryant on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Every Monday, fans can listen to “Penguin Playbook” on 570 WKBN, as head coaches Jerry Slocum and Bob Boldon talk YSU basketball from 7-8 p.m. They will review the previous week’s games and give a scouting report on the upcoming opponents. The show is scheduled to debut on Nov. 26.

Starting in January, “Penguin Gameday” will return every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on WBCB. Coaches Slocum and Boldon will be joined by Sports Director Dana Balash for the half hour television show. It will feature game highlights and player appearances. “Penguin Gameday” will also be available on wfmj.com.

Lastly, YSU fans can follow the Penguins all season on YSUsports.com or engage with the teams on social media platforms. Log on to YSUsports.com/social to see a directory of all of YSU’s social media pages. Plus, fans can earn points toward great prizes by interacting with the Penguins as part of the new Penguin Points program. There is also a downloadable mobile app for YSU athletics at YSUsports.com/frontrow.
