each two conferences has two semi's  and one confererance championship game...play seven in division games and one cross division game (youngstown versus toledo?) per year...

then for starting a playoff system here we go

mwc/conferece usa merged conferene gets 1 auto bid from those 32
sunbelt/mac/ merged conference gets 1 auto bid from those 32 teams
pac 12 gets 2 auto bids
big 12 gets 2 auto bids
big 10 gets 2 auto bids
big east gets 2 auto bids
acc gets 2 auto bids
sec gets 2 auto bids
2 at large bids

Teams that don’t make the national tourney can still play the O’Grady Bucket o’ Chicken Bowl and so forth?
16 teams make the national tourney with eight homes games at the highest seeds. the next four games are played neutral sites (bowls)..one game at the peach bowl, one at the cotton bowl, one at the orange bowl, and one at the gator bowl.
The next two are at the fiesta bowl and the rose bowl.

The national title game would be at the Sugar Bowl.

roughly 143 schools have a legit shot at winning a national title!!!!

easy as that---the skunkapekiller manifesto 2.0

It would draw some attention if you used a better title :)  Not a bad idea, but it will not improve attendance and media attention.

why wouldn't it increase attendance?  for a team like youngstown your getting closer regional rivalries, less travel (more away teams fans coming to your campus), and a chance at making the national tournament?

my question is why isn't ysu already in the mac, does ysu want to be in the mac, and is their bad blood between other Mac (Ohio) schools that would keep ysu out all at all costs?

Too many bad FCS programs on that list, and you aren't gonna take FAMU out of the MEAC. Some of these mid-majors would be playing much lower competition and would be very unhappy. Also, while it would be fun to play the MAC teams, I think I would really miss the playoffs. Even in this scenario, we would never legitimately compete for a title.

Most if not all of the FCS schools on this list will want to or will study a move up to FBS.  My proposal only works if their is a true playoff system bc i agree with you that fcs playoffs are way better than the Meineke Bowl.  I tried to group most ofthe mid-major (and i say that with a smile bc there isn't much difference between all the 64 schools on this list) teams together to keep travel down and create/keep regional rivalries.

The idea has merit, but will not work in the real world of monies and associations. The FBS schools will not vote to demote themselves to the FCS level. Most FBS schools have devoted years and a great deal of money to get into the FBS level.

Yes, most of us YSU fans would love to get into the MAC, but that was shot down by the MAC Presidents in the mid 90's. Kent State and Akron both vetoed YSU from entering the MAC.

Maybe a good conference will materialize in the future, but it will only happen if YSU becomes a constistent winner and decides to spent $$ to get there.

Sorry, my fault in the way I phrased that. I am talking about the entire level. For the Guins, it would be nice. The national media would just see the division as they do now ...second-class. I still take extreme issue with this the removal of "I-AA" terminology, in favor of "FCS".

No one is being demoted in this proposal...just a few quality FCS school move  up and realign to cut down on travel, put students in the classroom more, and buidl on some regional rivalries instead of flying half way around the world for Idaho to play La-Tech.  A handful of teams are leaving FCS football for FBS every year.  This trend will continue because FCS has some issues themselves.  South Alabama, Western Kentucky, UT-SA, Texas State, to name a few have moved up and schools like Georgia State and UMass are gonna move in the next year or two. UNC-Charlotte is starting a FCS team this year with moving up to FBS a few years down the road (a lock for gettign into CONF-USA).

This actually wouldn't be so bad, as we could make a playoff run to win our conference, potentially. As for a move to the MAC, with the "de-geographization" of conferences these days, maybe the Sun Belt would like a northern presence? We recruit heavily in Florida now anyway -- might make that an easier sell. I realize it defeats the reason many people want us in the MAC (natural rivals, travel, etc.), and I'm not sure I want the New Orleans Bowl to be the ultimate goal each year, but it is 1a/FBS.

Wow.  That's some manifesto.  What happens with the rest of the FCS schools?  Do they stay D1 or drop down to D2?

You would still have about 120 schools playing  for the FCS or Div1AA title...  over the years some teams would still move up and some would drop down...

delaware's ad denies that they have been contacted about joining conf-usa...which means they have been contacted by conf-usa.
