The Youngstown State football team passed the halfway point of spring drills on Monday with their eighth practice of the camp. YSU was crisp in an hour-and-45-minute workout held at Stambaugh Stadium.
It was the Penguins' first practice since Saturday's major scrimmage. Besides individual work, YSU spent time on punt coverages and 20 minutes on team drills.
During Monday's extended individual period, the team focused on some of the situations that arose during the scrimmage. Head Coach Eric Wolford said the Penguins will take what was taught at today's practice and have an extended team period on Wednesday.
YSU's practice was shorter than normal because the team watched video of the scrimmage beforehand. Practice started at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Wolford said he has been impressed with a variety of players so far this spring. He said on the offensive line, Andrew Sinko and Fred Herdman have played well stepping in for injured linemen Lamar Mady and Andrew Radakovich.
The Penguins return to practice on Wednesday. The workout is scheduled to begin a 4 p.m.
