Congratulations YSU Football!

Strommer10:
NDSU fan here, I want to congratulate your football team on a great season. As we have some time to look back at our season thus far, your team is the only blemish on our season. In my opinion it truly says something about your program's rise and what is to come. It excites me to have a glimpse of the YSU of old. Now that SIU is disappearing, I can see NDSU, UNI, & YSU control the conference for years to come. All I know is that I'm glad we have you guys in the Dome again next year. It should be another tough battle.

Seasons greetings to everyone in Penguin land from Bison Nation!

Thanks Strommer.  I have little doubt that you will handle Sam Houston.  That will go a long way toward refurbishing the reputation of our conference that has been tarnished by Northern Iowa's continuous disappearing act during the playoffs for the past decade.

I do have one question for you.  Now that there are four Dakota teams in FCS power conferences, plus UNI to your southeast that also recruits heavily in Minnesota, do you guys have any concern that there might not be enough FCS talent in the upper Midwest to go around?  Or do you guys assume, as I do, that NDSU will maintain their standards while the other Dakota schools start to struggle?

YSU is still a long way from the teams that we placed on the field in the nineties.  But our game against you gave us some hope.  Should be interesting in the coming years.

Strommer--  Why did the Sioux go to the Big Sky and not the MVFC?

That's a valid question. We have nice pipeline into Wisconsin and Nebraska because we have coaches that are from those areas. I don't think there is a lack of recruits. We have consistently brought in MN players that the Gophers have overlooked and it continues to haunt them. I don't see this stopping any time soon. It's also interesting that we have gotten most of the top players from SD lately (starting WR, MLB, DE). Not sure if that is just a current trend or will continue.

They never received a full offer from both the MVFC and the Summit League for the rest of their sports. I'm personally torn about it because I would like to continue the rivalry, but I think it would only benifit their program. We are already in the National Championship in our 4th year of eligibility, so there's not much for us to gain. Conference-wise I think it was dumb for them because they have us (NDSU), SDSU, USD, & UNI all within driving distance. In all there are 5 opponents in the MVFC that are closer to them than their closest conference opponent, Montana St.
