Lots of pictures, interesting commentary.  Truthfully kind of surprised some of the ratings are as high as they are.

Who is this character?  Considering that he showed up for that stupid Fredonia game (that I boycotted) and endured an empty gym, his comments were rather complimentary.  Interesting that he was impressed by the band.  The athletic department certainly is not.  Those Dana kids are quite good, but this outsider noticed the lack of coordination with the cheerleaders.  The band could be a "weapon" if our clueless staff would just shut off that stupid music box.

The band is much improved, sometimes you need taped music though

A "pep" band is to do just that.  Pep up the crowd.  They played
taped music when the band was not there.  We do not need a
combination of BOTH.  PLUS, I do think the Pep Band should hold
a meeting with the Cheerleaders and sync the performance of both,
Having said all that....why, do they BLAST the music.  Just play the
music.  The Pep band is a wonderful addition to the Basketball games.
Eventually, as the team betters themselves, attendance will grow,
till then, us "old timers" are there.....so tone the music to us, not
the College kids WHO "NEVER" ATTEND THE GAMES.  Happy to
have the Pep Band enthusiasm...Thanks for your time.

Pita-Students should attend as many games as they can. They get in FREE. When Lucky and I were at YSU we went to as many basketball games as we could.  Actually we went to alot of non athletic events too.

Pita is actually right-on. Cater to your crowd. I actually sent a lengthy letter to the director of bands about the same thing. At this past season's football games, they did a great job while in the stands, but they play rock music from the 70's and 80's for the halftime show? Name the nations best college marching bands and you never hear this. I received a response something along the lines of playing what the students (in band now) want to hear and play. My thought is then why dig back so far then? Students today were not even a thought in the 70's or 80's. Clearly it is for the adults. So play what adults want to hear ..band music. Dana still has great musicians & the basketball pep band is great this year, as always.

Does anyone else remember a football game few years ago when the allowed what I remember to be a local news woman to butcher ..err um ...sing the national anthem? She was "booed". They never did it again. This is a very traditional community, it would be in the best interest of the folks a Dana to realize this.

So if you must play a rock tune wirh band instruments ...for the 1-millionth time I will bring it up. YSU's rock anthem is "the Mighty Quinn" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. (Think of OSU and Hang on Sloopy). Only we alter the lyrics to say "you'll not see nothin' like the mighty Guins". Get with it fans and bands!!
