YSU to the Big East??

Honestly!  This topic flares up every year!  Read Indy's post.  We don't have the money to play with the Big Boys.  We will never have the money to play with the Big Boys.  And that is not really a bad thing.  Take a deep breath and think about what we have.  We play in the best mid-major basketball league, one that is superior to that MAC that some of you seem to worship.  We play in one of the four football power conferences in FCS.  There is nothing wrong whatsoever with the places where we are situated. Winning football and competitive basketball could cure everything.  And those are the ends to which we should be channeling our energies.

Henguin, are you still out there?  Some of us would like to hook up with the remnants of the current CAA, if that football conference survives this turmoil.  So, do you believe that the CAA will survive?  Would the surviving members be interested in Youngstown State as the western terminal of CAA football?

I think the CAA will survive, however JMU and new comer Old Dominion have made significant investments in their stadiums opening the door to moving up.   The question is to what. Delaware is content where they are. Some of the talk aound here is the formation of a new D1 conference cherry picking the best of the CAA and Southern Conference and maybe Temple. IMO not a bad idea. But due to the finance issues I think the status quo will remain for a while. Villanova was all pumped to move to the Big East but reality set in. Their football team has no fan base. Don't know what the politics would be to get YSU in the CAA. I know Delaware fans would like to see YSU on the schedule. (I would wear my Penguin gear for that game.) They are tired of West Chester, Delaware State and Duquesne type games. With the loss of UMass and Rhode Island next year and last year of Hofstra and Northeastern, the CAA has become a Southern conference. Not sure it would be a good fit for YSU.
