The Founder of this message board has died
« on: November 17, 2024, 10:13:07 AM »
A former poster has informed me that IAA Fan, the founder of this message board, passed away on November 1. Below is the information if you are interested:

https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/columbus-oh/daniel-crum-12058986

Whether you agreed with his stances on the issues, nobody could question his dedication to YSU and his financial commitment to promoting our sports through this board.

I would guess that this board has a fast-approaching expiration date. Perhaps the moderators could tell us more about that.

I was wondering why he hadn’t posted for a while. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear this news.

I had tried to contact him about a month ago because he had not posted for a long time, but I never heard back from him.

RIP Dan. I haven't posted on here much the last 10 or so years, but still pop in every once in awhile to check what was going on with YSU sports.  This board has been around since 2002 & Dan had a Yahoo YSU board before that from what I remember.  So, thanks Dan to your dedication to YSU and it's fans

May he rest in peace. Thank you for your love and support for YSU and for setting up this message board in the first place. I am sure thousands have posted on this site over the years!

Moving forward, who are the remaining moderators on this website? Will we be able to salvage this moving forward? If not, one thought I had was to create a YSU Penguins subreddit on reddit.com which we could use moving forward if this website ends up going away. We definitely need a message board like this for our fan base and would be happy to help moderate with others a subreddit group for us if we need to go that route.

For those of you who do not know reddit, it is a massive message board website. Each subreddit is its own individual community. There is a big Youngstown subreddit out there right now anyhow.

Let us know so we can start planning accordingly!

I was locked out and figured how to get in. I’m on a remaining moderators and I did get an email from Dan’s daughter whose wish was to continue to site if possible I said I would help since I’m retired so let’s try to keep it going. Stay tuned go Penguins.

Rest in Peace…we owe so much to him. We exult with YSU’s victories and commiserate with losses on this page because of him. Hopefully this site will continue in his honor.
