Men's basketball vs Chicago State
« on: November 09, 2024, 02:47:03 PM »
Tip off at 8pm.   Not sure what to expect but think Nico Galette Might be some what of a go to guy.  Point guard should be fine and look forward to see how Gabe Dynes has progressed.  He needs to stay out of foul trouble.

Up 7-6 at first time out.  Ty Harper starting ahead of Uijtendaal.  Ty had an awesome dunk.

Defense looks shaky so far.  Worried about not only 3 point shooting  but perimeter shooting although it's early.

YSU up 32-29 at half. D played better last 10 minutes.  Nico Galette is a man.  I hate to say this but this is Dynes last season at YSU unless someone starts a collection.

I am able to watch the game on the NEC sports using the YSU MBB website link. It’s free.
We are going to have problems with 3 point shot this year.
If Dynes does well this year, nil $$ will not be able to keep him here. He will be with P5 team. Even JC will try to get him to go Utah State.

The press is giving us a hard time despite having a lot of guards.  Can't have Farmer going 1 of 12.

Are you having streaming issues with that link? I am getting 2-3 circles of death every minute. No issue on any other streaming tonight

Nice road win by 20.  Was worried about Chicago State since they gave Loyola a good game on the road.
Too early to read into what we have.  Newcomers Nico,Maxey, and Ty Harper were impressive.

Went small the 2nd half(sat Dynes) aganist the press.  Thought Jason Nelson would do more and Farmer was bad tonight but it's a long season for them to step up.  Rebounded the ball well but need to cut down on turnovers.

Impressive defense. Commentators stated Chicago State went 7 minutes in each half without a field goal. Much better flow to the offense in the second half. We should be ok by the league schedule if we don't allow upcoming hard times on the road to retard development.

Impressive 2nd half. 1st game gitters in 1st half.  Defense seemed ok.  3 point shooting and free throws not so good.. it was the 1st game though.   Ohio st Monday at 6 Big10 Network.

Now how come the men's team lost all starters and still managed to win by 20 on the road against a d1 opponent.   Defense.  Yet the football team cannot even win one road game this year.  Mind boggling!

In addition to defense, there are a few more reasons.

A Head Coach & Staff who have embraced the transfer portal since day 1 rather than view it as a bad thing.

A Head Coach & Staff who know how recognize & recruit talent from any level (high school or portal)

A Head Coach & Staff who also had the foresight to realize that Name, Image and Likeness are the keys to attracting & retaining players.  Again, rather than viewing it as a bad thing.

Say what you want, but great thing about NIL is EVERYONE can have a true voice and directly impact the rosters by contributing to NIL.  If everyone on this board sent $50 or $100 to The Penguin Collective https://www.thepenguincollective.org/, DP will be in a better position to assemble his next roster - which is already happening.

As difficult as it is to step back from emotions of yesterday's football embarrassment, now is the time to step up with your wallet if you want a better football roster next year.  The alternative will simply be more of the same - or worse.

Basketball raised nearly double what football did in NIL for this season.  Using the last few seasons and the benchmark, it's easy to see why we are now a basketball school.
