I can’t believe the total lack of interest in our football team.  Not much posting on this site or Any Given Saturday and little media coverage paper or tv.  First game only 2 weeks away.

I’’m not surprised by the lack of interest. The fans aren’t stupid.  Tired of FCS being in a league that the average fan could care less about.  No rivalry games.  With all the mediocre seasons Ohio State is the main fan favorite as well as high school football.  The house that Tressel built is a distant memory.

I hope those was not his running stats, lol (since they only let him run the ball).

Nice write up where the writer has a good idea who the starters are especially on D.

Nice read, that first paragraph is very interesting, I had not heard that before, sad if true.

Youngstown, OH. — A lack of loyalty and trust to the program was evident specifically on the defensive side of the ball throughout the course of YSU’s 8-5 season. Communication appeared to be an issue in the backend of the defense and tempers flared whenever a mistake was made during a game. Immediately after the season concluded, several important players rushed to the portal and others followed suit until there was almost nobody left on the defense. It was later revealed that multiple players on YSU’s defense were tampered with before a crucial second round matchup vs Villanova. At the sight of a couple more thousand dollars in cash and an FBS name to play under, high ego characters lost focus on a key playoff game and worried only about themselves. They found an escape route, a place to depart to if there was a negative outcome.

Quinpen,I totally missed that paragraph because I wanted to read more down the article about who may start especially on defense since there has been so little information.   That is a very damaging statement and I think in last night podcast coach Phillips alluded to this but didn't get into specifics although he maintained that he's accountable and wants to make sure that he and the coaching staff have the loyalty of the players and they want to be at YSU.

The word LOYALTY doesnt exist in 2024.  You have kids that came from nothing so why would they give a sh*t about YSU? A pay day of $20,000 or more is all they care about.   Like I posted before the coach needs to recruit both players and coaches and raise money (NIL) for the program.  I haven't heard any big contributions to the program.  I know there are supporters but nothing setting us apart from the competition.

I refer back to the Business Journal article of last week. It listed average NIL money for various levels.  Here is what stuck out:

7.1K the average NIL payout for a YSU athlete
3.5K the average for all of FCS
3.1K the average for the MVFC
2.3K the average for the MAC

At the moment, we are not underfunded in comparison to the schools that we are competing with for recruits. Obviously, we can not compete with big time programs that offer over 20K to our players. But clearly right now we actually have a NIL advantage over like institutions.
