The delusions of the G5 programs apparently know no limits. Corporations and networks care ONLY about the P5. A G5 playoff would have the exact same interest as the FCS playoffs....namely none whatsoever.

Agree, the national  interests will be low especially with the extended playoff of the P5 teams. How much local interests, let alone national interests for the MAC teams? Even local people are not watching the Akron or Kent home games.
However, there might be tv $$$ to be made for G5 markets.

IMO. The P5 playoff in comparison to the G5 playoff will be comparable to the NCAA MBB & NIT. Some local interests for the participating teams, but little interests elsewhere.

Well if you feel there won’t be no interest then FCS will be even more irrelevant than it is already.  It’s about more $$$ and the G5 want a bigger cut.  My guess they might get it.  Our level between if that happens and NIL and the transfer portal is a mess and will get worse.

I give them credit, admitting where they stand in the greater scheme of college football and trying to make the best of it.

It does push us down a peg in interest

Consider the financial realities. The NCAA just negotiated a long-term contract with ESPN for the FCS playoffs. What media outlets would even want to cover a second-rate playoff system between the P5 big show and the lesser tournament (FCS) that happens to officially be the NCAA DI playoff? Remember that the NCAA has absolutely nothing to do with the current big boy playoffs.

By walking away from some money, the G5 schools could end up with less. While the FCS semifinals are on ESPN and ESPN2, the G5 semifinals will be carried by whom....FS2....Apple tv....Youtube? Brilliant move guys, keep it up.

You might be right but whoever and if the splinter off someone will take a chance it if they decide to leave.  FCS is shown on tv like you said but hell the championship game was going against the NFL on a Sunday Afternoon.  Whoopee!  My guess is the big schools want this and if tv an do this package this on a Saturday with FCS ax the first game G5 as the second game and then the big school at night.  Make it an event.  But like I said FCS is going to be destroyed if NIL and the portal stays the way it is.

Should be an interesting discussion tonight. Coach Phillips will be on the podcast with Kurt Hess, Kyle Sirl, Dan Kopp, and Sal Guagliardo. I would expect NIL and the portal will be two big topics. 8pm tonight. Link: https://t.co/XACS3QpNgD
