Indiana State Week
« on: October 31, 2023, 04:12:10 PM »
Despite being winless, the trees have played tough and been in every game. Expecting them to continue the fight with the penguins coming to town.

Penguins need to focus and not look ahead to SDSU.

Go 🐧

I would gladly take 34-17. We have one of the more dynamic, balanced offenses in FCS. Unfortunately, we also have one of the worst defenses in FCS. Whenever your defense is poor, you are vulnerable no matter the opponent.

No defense means another tight game.     Offense needs to strike 1st because they have no offense.

It might be too optimistic for defense to only give up 17 points.
We didn’t do well against tall quarterbacks (the SIU 5’9”” QB couldn’t throw our DL while other 6’ 4” QBs killed our D).
How tall is the QB from Indiana State? Just asking….

Probably see the 6-2 freshman Owens he's the one who almost pulled off the W against UND..

Hate to say it but I expect a close game albeit a win.

Really need a big win to maybe impress some folks.

As stated before. Road games come down to special teams, turnovers and penalties. Limit the latter two and have solid special teams and this will be a win.

Defense will be the key.  We play solid D then a win for sure.   Cannot turn the ball over and limit big plays on special teams and the game is ours.  We struggle at Indiana state recently so time to change that.  I believe we will.

Going to have to create our own excitement as I would suspect under 500 people at the game. Will be like playing in a hospital.

Pete, you bring up an interesting point. That absolute lack of crowd makes playing at WIU hard as well.

When you think about it, it is kind of ironic though isn't it? There is a just right level for fan engagement of opposing teams when you play them at home.

Sold out home crowds who are smart and loud create a hostile environment. But away games with 50 people in the stands are likewise hard just because of the weird vibe. Gotta be focused and play tough either way. Go penguins!

Here's hoping for the first double digit road win since 2021.
