YSU - Detroit MBB

(1/2) > >>

mudclods:
YSU was a 1.5-point favorite at Detroit.

After a slow start and getting down 7, YSU going going later in the 2nd half and leads 40-30.  YSU had some good looks early from inside and 3's and couldn't hit.  Brandon Rush hit 2 big 3's in the last couple possessions to push that lead out.  Cohill doesn't look himself and hasn't scored.    They held Antoine Davis to 10 with 4 of them coming from the FT line.  He's 0-4 from 3 and they are just 2-13 as a team.

Think they said Detroit is 1-7 or 1-8 when trailing at the half.  YSU has been a much better 2nd half team so looks hope that trend continues.

guinpen:
Both the men and women are keeping a 10 point lead but not pulling away.

guinpen:
Hung on but made it closer than it should have been. Can't put the game away like we should against teams they should be able to.

ucfpengbuck:
Detroit is  better than their record. They lost to NKU in ot beat both Ohio U and PFW who beat us.  Liddell who had 24 tonight was a 4* top 50 player coming out of hs who statrted his career at Texas. Let's not forget Davis is the leading scorer in the nation and has always brought the pain against YSU.  Always happy to get a win on the road.

Cohill had one of his worst games in his YSU history but the other 4 starters picked it up along with Will Dunn and Covington giving production off the bench.

Love the toughness that Brice McBride brings.  He has a nice combo of strength & speed and his offense is coming on.
Can't say enough about Rush since he's been inserted to the starting line up .  He just gets buckets.  Brandon has to be happy between his play and the fact that he's finally on a winning program.

mudclods:
Good to win on the road in spite of an off night for Cohill.  He just didn't seem into the game tonight.

Coach said in the pre-game they were going to play inside out and needed Green and Nelson to play well and they did.  Thought Bryce McBride was tremendous.  He hasn't been a great 3-pt shooter much of the year, but has been coming on of late and 2 big ones tonight.  He had 12 points, 6 rebounds & 4 assists and made 2 key FT at the end.  Will Dunn was the X factor tonight with 9 points on 4-4 shooting.

After only scoring 10 in the first half, you knew Davis would get going and he did and ended with 32.  He can singlehandedly bring them back into a game.

Detroit was down 3 players so you have to keep that in mind.

Sure wasn't many people there and I saw it was only $3 admission.

That's 3 in a row and 6 of the last 7 for YSU.  Now they face Oakland on Saturday, who has won 5 straight after starting the year off 2-11.
