YSU gets their first ever season sweep of Green Bay. They had split the last 6 years!
Was pretty much a must win for YSU if they have any hopes at the 4th seed and stay in the middle of the league standings. Robert Morris blew out Milwaukee by 24 tonight and didn't even appear to be that close. Really shocking there. That was big for YSU, now they need to care of business Saturday against Milwaukee and get back to .500.
Thought it was kind of an odd game. YSU came flying out of the gates and was up 22-8 after the first 10 mins and should have been more, but only scored 4 points in the next 10 mins and was up just 5 at halftime. Just seemed similar to the CSU and NKU games where they should have had big leads at the half and in all 3 cases went to the locker room with no momentum seeing their lead shrunk considerably.
YSU came out strong in the 2nd half and I thought would put it away but they didn't letting GB hang around and getting it down to 5 until an 8-0 run late iced it.
Great defensive effort to hold GB to 50 and gave up just 58 in the first contest. YSU's offense was really good in spurts then couldn't do anything in other spurts. Thought it was odd too that GB really didn't make any attempt to shoot 3's late or foul. They only shot 10 for the game and made just 2. YSU made 6 but shot just 26% from 3.
Thought Cohill was key in the 2nd scoring all of his 18 points despite missing both his FT attempts. Will Dunn had another nice game with 11 points and 8 rebounds getting the start. Shemar played a nice game but lost his cool at the end. After getting elbowed hard and knocked to the ground, he went after the GB player and appeared to punch him in the face. Shemar was ejected, just hopefully there aren't more ramifications with Chicone still out.
After only playing 3 mins on Sunday, Myles Hunter didn't even get in the game. He's obviously struggled all year but has went from starting to not even playing. Jamir Thomas also didn't get in the game as it appears both Dunn and Owens have leapfrogged him in the depth chart.
