Sorry guys as I have been busy and not on here as much as I'd like but here's an update on some of the recent football commits.

Luke Hensley- 6-2 WR from Medina. Played well in games vs good comp. (St. Ed's, St. Iggy)

EJ Johnson- 6-6, 250 OL from St. Francis DeSales

Jackson Wassler- 6-7, 280 OL from Cincinnati St. Xavier

Paddy Lynch- Punter from Australia

Jaleel McLaughlin- RB has transferred in from Notre Dame College (D2)

Ordinarily I would laugh at a D2 transfer.  But I think I read somewhere that McLaughlin is a D2 All-American who had rushed for 2,000 yards in consecutive years.  If that is true, he probably deserves a look.

Correct. Had 340 rushing yards in a single game last year.

Since he is moving up from d2 to 1AA, does he have to sit out 1 year?

Cincinnati is #6 and Iowa State #8 in both the AP and Coaches polls.  I don't know how Phillips will work out. But if I had told you on the day that Pelini left that we would hire an assistant whose last jobs were at two top ten programs, the reactions to my prediction would have contained words that could not be printed in this forum.

Early signing runs from this Wednesday through Friday, I think.  We all await Phillips' first real recruiting class.

Why not?  He will not lose a year of eligibility, but I thought he had to sit out a year?

Nope

Not so sure I agree with that. He may not lose a year of eligibility, but he may have to sit out. If he is an academic qualifier (36-hours or more each year at DII not including summer term), then he can play at transfer. If not, he can practice right away, but must sit out of competition..
