The Youngstown State baseball team will play a pair of exhibition games over the next few weeks in preparation for the upcoming 2020 season.

YSU's first exhibition contest will be at Pittsburgh this Saturday, Oct. 5. First pitch at Charles L. Cost Field in Pittsburgh is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Penguins will then host Mercyhurst University at Eastwood Field in Niles on Thursday, Oct. 10, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. Both contests will be open to the public with free admission.

Fourth-year head coach Dan Bertolini currently has 24 returning players from last year's roster, and is incorporating a group of 15 newcomers, which includes four transfers and 11 freshmen. Two-time Second-Team All-Horizon League picks Blaze Glenn and Jeff Wehler highlight an experienced group of returners.

Phillip Glasser and Dylan Swarmer were each named to the Horizon League All-Freshman team last season, and 2018 second-team all-league selection Collin Floyd is back healthy after missing the 2019 campaign with an injury. 2018 Horizon League All-Freshman Team picks Lucas Nasonti and Nick LaBrasca also return.
