IAA Fan:
Youngstown State senior guard Alison Smolinski has been named to the Horizon League Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team for her performance in Motor City Madness, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Smolinski, a native of North Royalton, Ohio, scored 18 points on six 3-pointers in the Penguins' 55-53 loss to Green Bay in the semifinals of the tournament on Monday. She made five of those triples in the third quarter to lead a YSU surge. The 18 points were the most by a women's basketball player in the three tournament games at Little Caesars Arena.

Smolinski added six points on a pair of 3-pointers in YSU's quarterfinals victory over Milwaukee. She finished the tournament with eight 3s in two games.

Smolinski is YSU's first Horizon League All-Tournament Team selection since Heidi Schlegel in 2013-14.

During the tournament she broke the Horizon League single-season 3-pointers record, and she also became the first player in YSU and conference history to make at least 100 3s in a season. She surpassed Detroit Mercy alumna Senee Shearer's previous record of 97 in the Penguins' win over Milwaukee at Beeghly Center on March 6, and she made her 100th 3 of the season in the third quarter on Monday against Green Bay.

Youngstown State has a 22-9 record and is waiting to see if it qualifies for the Women's NIT or the WBI postseason tournaments. Those fields will be announced Monday evening.
