Indianapolis, Ind. - Three members of the Youngstown State track and field team have been awarded Horizon League Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
Senior Chad Zallow (60m dash, 60m hurdles), sophomore Kaitlyn Merwin (shot put) and freshman Suerethia Henderson (200m dash) each received Horizon League accolades for their performances last weekend at the Akron Zips Invitational.
Zallow took first place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.72 seconds. He also went on to win the 60m dash with a time of 6.73 seconds. Zallow has now won those events four times each this indoor season, as he heads into the Horizon League Championships this weekend with the fastest times in 60m dash, 60m hurdles, and 200m.
Henderson won the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 24.26 seconds. She currently holds the second fastest times in the Horizon League in both the 60m dash and 200m.
Merwin took home a first place finish in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 15.26m. Her mark now ranks second in program history. She also holds the furthest shot put throw in the Horizon League and the sixth best toss in the weight throw.
