Indianapolis, Ind. -- For the third straight week, Youngstown State freshman Darius Quisenberry earned the Horizon League's Freshman-of-the-Week Award, the league announced on Monday.

Quisenberry led the Penguins to their third straight 2-0 week with a pair of wins over IUPUI, 75-73, on Feb. 14, and 81-73 over UIC on Feb. 16. He averaged 27 points, 2 rebounds, six assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor, 42.9 percent from 3-point range and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line. He also averaged three made 3-pointers per game.

Quisenberry scored a career-high 37 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor, including three 3s, and 14-of-16 from the free-throw line in the win over UIC.

His 37 points are the most by a freshman in YSU's Division I era (since 1981-82) and the most by a freshman since Jeff Covington scored 44 in 1975. It also tied for the fourth-highest total scored against a Horizon League opponent since joining the league. His 14 made free throws are tied for the third most in a single game in school history. Quisenberry also had 17 points and tied a career-high with eight assists against IUPUI.

The Springfield, Ohio, native has led the Penguins to six straight wins and averaged 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game during the streak. Against league foes, Quisenberry ranks seventh in the league with 16.8 points per game, second with 1.9 steals per game and third with 4.8 assists per game.
