Youngstown State's Chad Zallow and Jaliyah Elliott have been named the Horizon League Runners of the Week for their performances at the Penn State National Open, the league announced on Tuesday.
After posting the fastest times in the prelims and semi-finals at the Penn State National Open, Chad Zallow turned in his quickest time of the season with a 7.66 second performance in the finals of the 60m hurdles. Zallow went on to win the event by 0.12 seconds, marking his third win of the season in the event. It also marks the third week in a row that Zallow has recieved the weekly award.
Sophomore Jaliyah Elliott set a new school record in the semi-finals of the 60m dash with a time of 7.33 seconds. Elliott went on to post a time of 7.36 seconds in the finals to secure a first place finish in the event at the Penn State National Open.
Both runners along with the rest of the Penguins will return to the track this Friday and Saturday when they host the YSU National Mid-Major Invitational at the WATTS.
