...and YSU is what ..."Big Time"? You must be one of those people that thinks we could get a real coach from the Big-10 as a head coach as well? Coach Shane (the man who once continuously set records at YSU) is one of the top OC's in the game and he is going to one of, if not the top, program in the nation. You know Mike Houston is going to E. Carolina, he is not replacing Urban Myer.

YSU should just reach out and offer him $175k, or $125k-$150k and a long-term contract, but we will not be able to match JMU. Now we have to play him. Hard to believe that Charlotte would take Atkins over coach Shane. I never saw Atkins as a "up & commer", but that is what they are saying.

Have to play him? When are we going to play JMU? He didnt go to a conference rival

I am aware that Montgomery cannot go to a conference rival, at least not for a few more years. I am assuming that both clubs (YSU & JMU) will make the post-season. Or maybe schedule each other.

Continuously set records vs teams like Butler and Valpo and shrank and could barely put up points in the biggest games.

Crist is just inept. His offense doesn't even have an identity.

Not true. You just think that we should put up basketball numbers in every game. You know there are teams as good as YSU out there LOL. Monty seldom failed to put up enough numbers to win any game. (aside from money games & NDSU). Besides when we do start playing SEC-ball (aside from Alabama) or even worse Big-12 ball, my days as a fan will dwindle. You guys love to watch NDSU, a complete clone of old YSU, as they chew up championship after championship. Yet they have a defense that shuts people down. So did we once. Here are some of Monty's base records (over entire season):
1. First downs over a season
2. Rushing yards over a season
3. Number of completions over a season
4. Completion percentage over a season
5. Completion yards. over a season
6. Fewest INT's over a season
7. Total offensive plays per season
8. Total offensive yards per season
9. Total average yards offense (per game) per season (3 of the top 5). Yet, 4 of the top 5 opposition average yards per game (per year) were while coach Shane was our OC. So try pointing the blame at the defense once in a while where it has belonged.
10. Scoring for the season: #1 in passing and #2 in rushing.
11. Highest season-average points per game. I would be willing to bet he is #1 over his YSU career as well, but that is too much calculating.

Just send $20 to YSU for a media guide, it has all of these numbers.

BTW: Montgomery's predecessors played the same I-AA Non or partial scholarship schools. Or else they played the bottom of the conference PSAC schools. Coach Shane still holds the records.

Those numbers are great but he managed to develop 0 qbs, ran an offense that constantly injured said underdeveloped qbs and only made the playoffs once.
