Youngstown State junior Chad Zallow was named the Alfreeda Goff Horizon League Male Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year for the second straight time, the league announced on Thursday on the eve of the upcoming conference championships.

Zallow ranks ninth in the East Region and 11th in the nation in the 110m hurdles. He ran a season-best time of 13.72 seconds to take first place in the 100m hurdles Presented by Power 99 at the Penn Relays last Saturday. He won the prestigious event by 0.08 seconds. Earlier in the day he anchored the Penguins' 4x100m relay team to a school record. YSU was fifth in the College Final with a time of 40.59 seconds, which beat the previous-best mark by 0.06 seconds.

He took first place in the Jesse Owens Track Classic in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.88 seconds on April 21. He finished 0.17 seconds in front of Ohio State's DaJuan Seward. Later in the day, Zallow placed third in the 200m dash with a Horizon League best time of 21.24 seconds. The time for Zallow was a career best eclipsing his previous best of 21.30 seconds.

In the league, he has the fifth-fastest time in the 100m dash (10.81 seconds) and was a three-time Outdoor HL Runner of the Week (April 3, April 10, May 1).

Additionally, he has won the 110m hurdles at the Northeast Ohio Quad (April 7) and the Westminster Invitational (April 14). He also won the 200m at Westminster.

Zallow was the recipient of the Horizon League's Indoor honor back in February and was recently named YSU's Male Athlete of the Year.

Earning the women's Athlete-of-the-Year honor was Detroit Mercy's Sydnie Fetherolf.
