Softball Signs Milena Lacatena to National Letter of Intent

(1/1)

IAA Fan:
The Youngstown State softball program has signed Milena Lacatena to a National Letter of Intent to join the Penguins for the 2018 season, YSU Head Coach Brian Campbell announced on Wednesday.

Lacatena, a catcher and corner infielder, was a four-year letterwinner at Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope, N.J. Named team co-captain as a senior, she set the school's single-season home run record with eight in 2017 and batted .470.

"First of all, Milena comes from a great family, is a great student and outstanding softball player," Campbell said. "She can hit for average and power and has the ability to play several positions for us."

Lacatena's sister, Maria, was a four-year starting catcher at Youngstown State from 2014-17.

She joins Elle Buffenbarger (Mason, Ohio), Yazmine Romero (Castro Valley, Calif.) and Nikki Saibene (Canton, Ohio) in the 2018 recruiting class.

Wick250:
So, how do we replace a four-year starting catcher who has been a foundation of this program?  Easy.  We sign her sister who seems to have identical credentials coming out of high school.  Works for me.

Yep, that seems to work.  Did anyone check to see if Derek Rivers has a little brother?
