Arcuri Earns National, Horizon League Honors
« on: March 14, 2017, 09:42:11 PM »
Youngstown State senior outfielder Lorenzo Arcuri has been named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and the Horizon League Batter of the Week for his outstanding results for the Penguins at the plate last week.

Arcuri, a native of Roseville, Calif., hit four home runs to go along with nine RBIs and six runs scored in four games last week for YSU. He batted .412 with seven hits in 17 at bats, and he posted a 1.118 slugging percentage.

Arcuri began the week by tying school records with three home runs and 13 total bases at Morehead State in a game that began Tuesday and was completed on Wednesday. He went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and five RBIs in the contest against the Eagles. He then homered in the series opener at Richmond to give him four for the week and five in a three-game stretch going back to the finale at Eastern Kentucky on March 5. Arcuri finished the week with a go-ahead two-run single in the ninth inning at Richmond on Sunday.

Arcuri is the second Penguin in the first four weeks of the season to be named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball, joining teammate Andrew Kendrick on Feb. 20. Kendrick was also the Horizon League Batter of the Week for the first two weeks of the season, which gives the Penguins three awards in the first four weeks.

For the year, Arcuri is batting .296 with five home runs, 12 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has hit safely in 10 straight games and in 11 of the Penguins' 13 contests this season.

Youngstown State will begin Horizon League play at UIC on Friday at 5:05 p.m. Eastern.
