Ryan Booth and Amber Eles of the Youngstown State track and field team were selected the Horizon League Athletes of the Week, the League announced Tuesday. Both were chosen after their strong performance at the Ashland Alumni Open.
Booth was nominated as the men's field athlete of the week as he had two victories over the weekend. Booth took first in the shot put with a throw of 17.25 meters. He also had a season-best mark in the discus throw with a toss of 48.25 meters.
Eles was selected as the women's running athlete of the week as she finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.02 seconds. This is the second time Eles has been honored with as the running athlete of the week this season.
The Penguins are next in action at the Horizon League Championships on May 6-8.
