Scouts From 10 Professional Teams Attend YSU Pro Day
« on: March 15, 2016, 03:38:22 PM »
Former Youngstown State football players Kenneth Durden, Andre Stubbs, Demond Hymes, Octavius Brown, Andrew Williams and Terrell Williams worked out for scouts from eight NFL teams and a pair of Canadian Football League teams during the Penguins' Pro Day on Tuesday.

Scouts from the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers from the NFL and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Ottawa RedBlacks of the CFL were in attendance as the workout started in the YSU weight room before moving the WATTS.

Durden, who started all 11 games at cornerback last year, had an impressive day in front of the scouts. He posted a vertical jump of 39.5 inches, a broad jump of 10.5 feet, a best time of 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash and a time of 6.85 seconds in the three-cone drill. He also had a strong time of 11.33 seconds in the long shuttle to go with 16 reps on the bench. He had a strong showing in the cornerback drills following all the testing.

Andrew Williams, who ended his career as one of the top receivers in school history, had a productive day. Williams had a vertical jump of 38.5 inches and a broad jump of 10.6 feet. His 40-yard dash times were in the mid 4.5-second range  and he had a time of 7.11 seconds in the three-cone drill.

Terrell Williams, who played defensive end for the Penguins, is being looked at as a linebacker. Williams had 31 reps on the bench before recording a 36.5-inch vertical jump and a 10.11-foot leap in the broad jump. In the 40-yard dash he ran a time in the mid-to-low 4.6's.

Hymes had a vertical jump of 31 inches, a long broad jump of 9.3 feet and had 15 reps on the bench press. Stubbs showed some solid speed with a time of roughly 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and a 7.01 seconds performance in the three-cone drill. He had a vertical of 33.5 inches.

Brown, who last played with the Penguins in 2014, had 29 reps in the bench press, a 28.5-inch vertical leap and a long broad jump of 8.7 feet. He clocked a time of around 5.3 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Durden put on a nice showing. He may get a good look from a couple teams.
