Slippery Rock, Pa. - Conner Neu led the Youngstown State track and field team, as he broke the school record in the hammer throw and finished first in the discus throw at the Slippery Rock Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
For the hammer throw, Neu had a throw of 70.96 meters to make a new school mark and take first as he broke his old school record of 66.19 meters. He also placed first in the discus throw he had a toss of 47.67 meters.
Lavonte Powell took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.79 seconds and took second in the 100-meter dash to clock a time of 12.621 seconds.
Taylor Thompkins took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.62 seconds and Destiny Hall came in eighth with a time of 12.96 seconds. Hall also came in third to clock a time of 26.32 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
In the 400-meter dash Keishawana Burts came in second with a time of 1:03.03, Jayme Ritchie placed fourth with a time of 1:03.58 and Alison Green took sixth with a time of 1:03.85.
Taylor McDonald finished third with a time of 1:06.52 in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Libby Rogenski took third with a time of 12:29.57.
In the women's high jump, Chenera Lacey cleared the bar of 1.58 meters.
In the women's pole vault, Caitlyn Trebella cleared a height of 3.25 meters. Shelby Marken came in fourth with to clear a height of 2.95 meters.
For the women's long jump, Savannah Osborne took third with a leap of 5.20 meters and Ellie Pollock came in fifth with a jump of 5.13 meters.
In the women's shot put, Jayne Corbett placed first in a throw of 14.59 meters and Jennifer Neider came in fourth with a toss of 12.19 meters.
For the women's discus, Corbett came in third with a throw of 43.36 meters and Nicolette Kreatsoulas took fourth with a toss of 42.39 meters.
In the women's hammer throw, Neider took third with a throw of 44.02 meters and Kreatsoulas came in fourth with a throw of 42.99 meters.
In distance events for the men, Jon Huntyan came in second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:14.82 and Mike Navratil was right behind him to take third to clock a time of 4:15.65. Aaron Benka ran a time of 16:12.49 in the 5,000-meter run.
Caleb Lloyd placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.50 seconds.
In the men's field events, Jacob Chiclowe finished first in the shot put with a throw of 16.21 meters and took second in the discus throw with a toss of 46.01 meters.
Macklin Rose took third in the pole vault to clear a height of 4.25 meters. Montravius Berry came in fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.51 meters.
Matt Monroe came in second in the hammer throw with a toss of 52.55 meters and Joe Dixon took second in the javelin throw with a throw of 57.12 meters.
At the Florida Relays, Arnaldo Morales came in eight in the high jump to clear a height of 2.06 meters and Jay Jakovina came in 10th with a jump of 2.06 meters.
The Penguins are next in action at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships on April 8-9.
