Youngstown State sophomore forward Sarah Cash has been named the Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played between Dec. 7-13, the conference office announced on Monday.

Cash, a native of nearby Lordstown, Ohio, posted the first two double-doubles of her Penguins career last week and averaged 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. She was also impressive in other aspects with 3.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game, and she shot an impressive 70.6 percent from the field.

Cash began the week by scoring 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor while adding 11 rebounds at Penn State for her first career double-double. She then scored 10 points on just four field goal attempts and added a career-high 12 rebounds in a 30-point win over Kent State. She also had four assists and four blocks against the Golden Flashes.

Cash ranks ninth in the Horizon League in scoring with 14.4 points per game, and she's sixth in rebounding with 8.3 per contest. The sophomore also ranks second in field-goal percentage at 57.9 percent, and she's in the top 12 in free-throw percentage, steals and blocks.

Youngstown State has two home games this week, starting with Monday night's game at 7 against Salem International. The Penguins will also host Lake Erie on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Third-Annual Kids Field Trip Game, presented by Chick-fil-A.

Great job Sarah!  Love it when Lordstown girls do great things!
This was a walk on player, and coming off a very serious injury.  Took her a full 5 min. to walk past my house when she first started rehab, now player of the week!  Looks more like a librarian than a tough as nails athlete, but this girl is tough where it counts.
